  1. The best! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 11th Aug 2015

This thumb pick is the best banjo accessory that I've ever purchased. The pick is comfortable but more importantly is streamlined compared to traditional plastic thumbpicks. And an added bonus is that it improves the sound of my banjo (Huber) dramatically, if that's possible. It's well worth the investment.

  2. superior product 5 Star Review

Posted by on 8th Jul 2015

I'm new to banjo playing. A little over a year now. The pick I had before was only 6 months old and was worn down. Someone recommended Blue Chip so I got one. Had it for a year now and hardly any wear on it at all and it just slides smoothly across strings. I like it so much that I bought another one in case I lose it or misplace it. Definately recommend getting one.

  3. so far so good 4 Star Review

Posted by on 23rd Oct 2014

early days, it takes time to get used to a new thumb pick, it seems to be shaping up ok. very expensive compared to other picks so you must look after it and not lose it to get the benefit of a long life of playing with it.

  4. A firecracker for your thumb 5 Star Review

This pick is incredible, the thumb pops the strings so much better than any other picks I've used. I use stainless finger picks because of a nickel allergy and this pick really balances amazingly well with their brightness.

  5. Nice Tone! 4 Star Review

Posted by on 11th Jan 2014

I love the tone of the Blue Chip picks (both the BCT-1 and the JD version. The band is comfortable and doesn't cause me to lose blood circulation to my thumb either.

My only complaint is the size of the striking area of the pick. For me...and I'm only talking about my personal tastes..it is a bit too big. I'm likely in the minority on that one, so please don't let it stop you from trying out the Blue Chip thumb picks...they are worth the money!

  6. Best pick for me 5 Star Review

Posted by on 21st Nov 2013

This is my second blue chip pick after enjoying a J.D. Crowe model for a year or so. I love the blade length of my new pick(it's a little longer than the J.D. model) The blades on these picks are very durable and have great tone. These are the best thumb picks I've ever used and I've used a lot!

  7. Good Pick (BCT-1L and BCT-JDM) 4 Star Review

Posted by on 17th Oct 2013

I found the BCT-1 to be a little long for me and the L was a bit too big for my thumb (I had used a L Golden Gate previously, which rotates when my thumb gets sweaty).

I had my first pick (BCT-1L) for 5 days and totally destroyed it. I broke it where the plastic pick joins the metal band. I attribute this to the pick being a bit large for me, the pick itself being a bit long and mainly me just being hard on everything. I have a knack for breaking things, and feel that is really what happened here. So, don't blame the pick for me breaking it; I could probably break most things.

I then bought the JD version in a medium size and really like it a lot. It took me a bit to get used to it at first... but after playing with it for a few hours, it is my go-to pick. I really like the JDM... It fits well, stays put even if my thumb gets sweaty and it seems to be a good length for me.

Hopefully, I will not break this one... but no promises there. :)

  8. No more purple thumb! Great pick! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 16th Sep 2013

I had so many problems with inexpensive picks (metal and plastic) - too long, too short, wrong angle, fell off a lot, turned my thumb purple, etc. I will say that the Blue Chip pick is the most comfortable one I have used. It is longer than I am used to, and I considered grinding is shorter. But after a few days, I didn't notice anymore and it plays fine.

  9. takes getting to, but is great 5 Star Review

Took a Week To Get It To Fit Exactly, But Great Sound

  10. Awesome Thumb Pick 5 Star Review

Posted by on 18th Oct 2012

I’m a beginner banjo player and my techniques are still being refined. I initially bought inexpensive picks, naively thinking there can’t be that much difference in them. I could not have been farther from the truth. I am extremely pleased with my decision. No more squeaky sounds. It will last a lifetime!
