Product Overview

This is the TAD-1R pick in 50/1000th of an inch(1.25mm) thickness. It is identical to the TAD, but HAS ONE ROUNDED CORNER. All of our picks are professionally machined, hand beveled, and laser etched.

Quarters, Nickels and Dimes, if included in the pictures, are for size reference only. They are not etched on the picks or included with the sale. To use this reference, please place a coin on your current non-Bluechip pick and then compare to the pictures of our picks with coins on top of them. This will help you choose the pick that is closest to your current favorite size and shape.

    Number 1 in my rotation

Posted by Unknown on 17th Nov 2025

The slightly thinner TAD-1R48 is advertised as 1.22mm and measures in at 1.23 on my calipers. This is really where I’ve found my goldilocks thickness. A near perfect ratio of size, flex, and stiffness. It feels alive and gives me great dynamic feedback. Grip is amazing, stays where you want it, yet the larger size makes it easy to move around and change your position. The bevels are beautiful works of art, like hand carved filigree. They are smooth and enhance the feedback and solid tone. It feels great and builds confidence with accuracy and consistency.

    Solid & Superior

The pick makes a significant positive difference to both tone and feel. It was well worth the upgrade. I know they are often on back order. It was about a 3-4 week wait. I look forward to when I can order one with my initials on it. Spend the extra and get the leather key chain pick holder.

    The hype is real

Posted by Mike from Boston on 18th Oct 2025

I thought I’d give these a try after hearing all the hype. I can honestly say I like these picks. I find the size and materiel they are made of make them easy to hang onto. Having a round edge is helpful when strumming and the beveled shape of the other corners is great for picking and lead. I am of the opinion that my pick choice is worth the money.

    Amazing pick

Posted by Tim Moses on 18th Aug 2025

I wasn’t sure when I ordered but so glad I did! Perfect for my acoustics but a bit heavy for my Strat and Tele’s so I just received my TAD40-1R and it’s made for the electric guitars! I’m going to buy another for the Mandolin! I love the blue chip awesome for tone and picking bluegrass! Thanks to the great staff and the quality of their product! Worth the price! Tim

    great very large pick

Posted by bren on 30th Jun 2025

Worth every penny, but I can’t say this will be my go-to guitar pick. The reason for this is no fault of the pick, it’s that I have small hands, and this pick feels cumbersome at times playing guitar, as I can’t easily tuck a pick of this size when switching between playing fingers and pick. The one rounded corner would be more convenient on a smaller pick for me. Great mandolin pick though. The bevels are perfect and wicked smooth, enabling fast alternate picking and arpeggios.

    So worth it...

Posted by MP on 26th Jun 2025

I was skeptical, but I can't put it down. When I don't have my pick and have to use some old nylon pick that's handy, I feel and hear the difference. Definitely worth the plunge

Hope to hang on to it!

Broke my piggy bank and took the plunge. Never spent this much money on a guitar pick before. Got to say so far pleased with the tone. Think it’ll take some time for my ear to adjust, then I’ll compare with my other fav picks. Kinda wish I’d paid extra to personalize it, hate to lose it.

    Great pick

Solid full sound for my rhythm with bright crisp tones for leads. RHSB. Solid pick with little to no flex.
