Product Overview

The TP is our classic triangular pick in a 40/1000 of an inch thickness(1.0mm). The TP is the same size as the TPR, but has slightly sharper corners. All of our picks are professionally machined, hand beveled, and laser etched.

Quarters, Nickels and Dimes, if included in the pictures, are for size reference only. They are not etched on the picks or included with the sale. To use this reference, please place a coin on your current non-Bluechip pick and then compare to the pictures of our picks with coins on top of them. This will help you choose the pick that is closest to your current favorite size and shape.

    Best pick ever!

Posted by Bruce Ross on 6th Mar 2014

I have been playing guitar for 50+ years, mandolin for more than 4 years, and my BC TD40 is hands down the best pick I have ever used and used and used and used... Smooth, crisp, impregnable, perhaps even immortal! (Only a slight exaggeration...) It is NOT too much to pay for a pick like this. I have tried many others, and none compare.

    FINALLY A PICK I LOVE!

Posted by Jerry Martin on 23rd Jan 2014

I have been using the old Yeller Dunlops for years in .73 and tried several different Blue Chips and liked them but didn't have the right control for me, then as a last resort tried the TP40 and it felt comfortable right away and after a few weeks really like it. The lighter weight and shape similar to my old picks has worked out great. Plan on ordering a few more in the near future. I have found the key to not losing it is keeping it in the leather pouch. The only drawback for me is cost, at the price I am very protective of them, I have misplaced mine once or twice but since making a conscious effort to keep it in the case and always in my pocket it should last a long time. All in all a great product, just a bit spendy for the average musician.

    Seem smaller than I remember?

I think I have ordered the wrong pick, as it's a wee bit too thin and a wee bit too small!

    my favorite pick

Posted by Bill McClellan on 12th Aug 2013

This immediately became my favorite pick. Over the years I've tried custom shapes from Wegen & Red Bear, so I knew what to choose from Blue Chip. I like it better than anything else out there. Thanks for what you do.

    First Experience

Posted by Stephen on 14th Jun 2013

With all the great reviews I thought I'd try BlueChip picks to see if they are worth the price. I bought a couple different ones to try out - the TP40 and the TD35. I'm rating the TP40 with only 4 stars because the shape was not to my liking. I would rate the TD35 as 5 stars because I really like the shape/size and the slightly more flexible feel. As to the value, if they last as long as indicated I'll be quite happy with the price paid.

Same as al the other BLUE CHIP products".....top of the line!!

Posted by Charlie on 6th Dec 2012

The TP 50 is my choice for on stage. Especially if it's a BLUEGRASS venue. The TP 40 gives that easy going sound when working on stuff at home or in a closed venue. There is a difference on the COLLINGS or the Martin or the Taylor when listening to the songs played with other picks. My next purchase will be the thumb pick for use on the Dobro. And then I may spring for the Sammy Shelor finger picks!!!

    Best pick I ever used

Posted by Chrlie McCown on 12th Nov 2012

This Bluechip pick is very different from others I have tried. It is silky smooth and does not chip on the strings. It almost feels slippery. Absolutely the best feeling and sounding pick I have ever used!

    Love the TP shape

Posted by Paul Hefti on 23rd Oct 2012

The sound of Blue Chip Picks and the feel of the TP series is, to me, unrivaled. I own a TP 40, 50 and 60 - each one highlights a different color in the tonal spectrum, and I use them as needed on all of my guitars and mandolins. Appreciated is the triangular shape that gives me three points for the price of one - this pick will be someday be handed down to my great-grandson in fine working condition. Easy to hold and sublime to feel and listen to - sitting pretty with my TP Blue Chip picks.
