Product Description

The TP is our classic triangular pick in a 40/1000 of an inch thickness(1.0mm). The TP is the same size as the TPR, but has slightly sharper corners. All of our picks are professionally machined, hand beveled, and laser etched.

Quarters, Nickels and Dimes, if included in the pictures, are for size reference only. They are not etched on the picks or included with the sale. To use this reference, please place a coin on your current non-Bluechip pick and then compare to the pictures of our picks with coins on top of them. This will help you choose the pick that is closest to your current favorite size and shape.

  1. Adheres to your finger 5 Star Review

Posted by on 16th Oct 2025

I like that the pick becomes more tactical as it heats up with use. It will adhere to your finger and prevents slippage or twisting. Not flimsy or prone to bending. Provides a clear and lasting tone. It’s more expensive by a good margin compared to a standard pick, but the material doesn’t wear. This pick has become my go to pick.

  2. This product continues to get better the more I play with it. 5 Star Review

Posted by on 14th Oct 2025

After I used this pick for just 5 minutes, I realized that it provides the best connection to my instrument, that I have ever had. Just like premium tires on a vehicle can make the driving experience excellent, I am now playing scale notes faster than I ever have before. I will be purchasing more Blue Chip picks.

  3. I laughed, I cried, I came to terms... 5 Star Review

...with the fact that paying thirty-five bucks for a single pick was something I was capable of. I never imagined myself doing such a thing. Yet, here we are.

But, the material used is really something. Slick, yet grippy. How is it that something so smooth could also grip firmly, and even better with the slightest moisture on one's fingertips? Strange, and remarkable.

I bought the triangular-shaped TP40, and I love it. I don't worry about the angle I pick it up, as any side is as good as another with this design.

The 1mm thickness is perfect for me, with just a smidge of flex, but firm for quick runs of notes. Just perfect, for my playing, anyway.

But, decide for yourself. I saved up a few days' worth of coffees for it, and it's worth it to me. If you get a chance to try one before committing, that's lucky. I live in a very rural area, and so there are no guitar stores anywhere within a day's drive, so I just took a chance. I'm glad I did. If you're picky (see what I did there?) about your playing, you may find Blue Chip picks are just your thing, as I discovered. Good luck, friends! Joe G - Bishop, CA

  4. Great pick 5 Star Review

Posted by on 1st Oct 2025

I figured I’d try this pick even with the cost because string musicians pay thousands for good bows and woodwinds pay hundreds for good reeds, why shouldn’t I pay a little a little more for a great pick.

I’ve played Fender mediums primarily but have had periods with Dunlops orange so by no means an expert. I think it does better than the mediums. When I compare the sounds the fenders almost sounds thin where the tp40 has this warmth to it.

Perfect pick. Doesn’t slip. Great thickness to allow some base without being too thick. Bevel makes a difference too. Recommend.

  6. Awesome TP40 Guitar Pick 5 Star Review

Posted by on 11th Aug 2025

i am a nobody . Not a pro or even a good amateur but have been play guitars on and off since 1969 . i am a disabled person now and on a fixed income so my days of ever getting a quality guitar are over . i do have a cheap acoustic guitar and 2 cheap electrics . i bought the Blue Chip TP40 for my acoustic . $35.00 is a lot of money in my house on my very low income . But... it was super worth it to get this pick . i really love it and can tell a difference in playing and tone and how the pick attacks the strings , etc.. i hope to some day get another Blue Chip pick and i highly recommend them to anyone wanting to try one .

  7. TP40 (35) 5 Star Review

Posted by on 11th Aug 2025

I ordered a TP40 but requested it be a TP35 as advised and liked it so much that I ordered a second as a spare. I've always used a triangle pick the size of a TAD and initially ordered a TAD an a TP to see which I liked best. The TP still gives me the comfort of a triangle pick I've been using for decades but is smaller and actually more comfortable so I returned the TAD and am sticking with the TP.

  8. The Finest 5 Star Review

Posted by on 1st Aug 2025

Been using various BC picks for years. TD35 for electric. TP40 and TP48 for acoustic. They excel in providing a very smooth beveled edge that lasts. The feel is very noticeably different than a typical pick - smoother and “denser” on the strings, giving a thicker and more rounded tone in general. It’s really apparent on acoustic. I also appreciate the subtle grip improvement.

I try to always have one with me. And at least one back up in the house. Never had one wear out.

  9. as good as advertised 5 Star Review

Posted by on 5th Jul 2025

$35 for a pick?!…. i finally bought a couple (tp 40 and tp 48)…. after strumming and picking on my acoustics and electric i realized how great these picks work…. excellent balance, feel, and sound (at least to the player, probanly not noticable to listeners)…
like anything in life, live within uour means…. if uou have the money, uou should definitely treat yourself with a few different thickness picks…. i hope blue chip will make more picks with the grip…. will keep playing with my 2 blue chip picks for years to see if it really last ‘forever’ without maintenance…. just don’t lose them…

  10. The ultimate pick 5 Star Review

Posted by on 26th May 2025

Some people claim that picks do not make enough difference in tone or for secure grip to warrant a high price tag. I suspect that they have never tried one of these blue chip wonders. It really does feel more secure in my fingers, and the tone is significantly superior to any other pick that I have tried. The TP 40 seems an ideal thickness and texture for fast bluegrass tunes and cross picking, but also excels on slower ballad lines. It is an integral part of the quest for that ultimate acoustic guitar tone that we all seek.
