As a 61 year old shade tree musician I can tell you from experience that it is easier to learn the right way than it is to ‘un-learn the wrong way and re-learn the right way’. I've been playing guitar for about 50 years and have recently taken up mandolin. I've been playing with a local bluegrass gospel band and have spent countless hours trying to find the right pick even resorting to making my own…....finally I have found one. The TAD-50 is a tad expensive but well worth the money. Playing mandolin requires learning tremolo, chops and soloing....this pick does it all with ease.....buy it and protect it....its well worth the investment!

I've been playing mandolin since 1969. For me,, picks were always an issue as they wore out quickly, and became unusable,(rounded and ragged edges). I finally settled on fender heavys and always kept a pocketful handy. Took a long time to spend the $ for a BC,,but it's well worth it!!! Bought a TAD50 some months ago, and another (backup) just last week. The TAD50 suits my style,,is smooth, and shows no wear, and I play every day and sessions on weekends!! In addition,,it offers a nice woody tone. A great find for me!! As a plus,, you can't beat the service!!

After playing guitar for more than 45 years, I've gone through most of what the more serious players have gone through in search of their own particular 'sound' they're looking for. I thought I'd found nirvana when I got my Martin D-28 Marquis in 2005. Two things have noticeably improved the already stellar sound of this guitar of mine. One was switching to medium strings from light. The other was the choice of pick. I've run the gambit and although one of their competitors is a close second, Blue Chip has something that makes them stand out. I don't know what it could be other than material since the shape and stiffness are the same between the two. I can't see using anything else unless they somehow improve on perfection. I have to admit, I have drilled a six hole pattern in each of them, similar to the second place picks and find that it makes them absolutely perfect for me and my playing style.

I don't know what type of voodoo magic these things are made with, but they're simply indestructible. I play bass in a hard rock band and I generally play with a pick. As one could imagine, bass strings destroy picks in no time...it was nothing for me to completely shred 2 corners of a standard 1.5mm triangle pick at practice. My guitar player, who also dabbles in mandolin, turned me on to these picks. He was so enthusiastic about them that I figured it was worth a shot...I have had this pick for 9 months now...I have played the bass with this pick daily since I got it and you can't tell that I've played a lick with it!!! It is still as good as new!!! There is absolutely NO WEAR!!! After 9 months worth of picking on an electric bass with 50-110 gauge strings!!! Aside from it's apparent indestructibility, this pick has exceeded my expectations in all other areas as well. I am amazed with the tonal clarity and crispness it adds to my sound. I am perplexed by the way it glides across the strings like a piece of glass but sticks to my fingers as if it were porous and tacky...that has been almost as big a deal for me as it's longevity. I sweat a lot when when I'm playing and before Blue Chip I was constantly dropping my pick...I cannot recall having once dropped my Blue Chip Pick. Take it from me...It does not matter what kind of instrument you play, it does not matter what type of music you play, there is a Blue Chip Pick for you and you would be absolutely crazy not to give one a try!!!

I have tried every pick out there for fast picking and great tone. I play bluegrass with heavy strumming and this pick is the bomb. I found it in the TAD 50! Expensive $35), but worth every dollar, in my opinion. Doesn't slip out of my hnd and plays fast with the tone I wanted. Thanks Blue Chip!

I'm still using the same two TAD50 picks I purchased back in the summer of 2008. Yes, I endorse them now, but I'm still using those first two I bought! They have just the right tackiness and always give me a consistent sound and feel (very important!) and I no longer worry about having a spare pick to go to when the current one wears out. Matt has great customer service and will do his best to make sure you are happy with your purchase.

I bought this pick 6 months ago, and since then it's the only pick that has touched my mandolin. The shape of the point and the degree of the bevel is perfect and lets the pick glide smoothly off the strings with very little 'clickiness'. It's not really as sticky as some of the reviews would lead you to believe, but the slight amount of tack is enough for me. After 6 months the pick has not bent or deformed at all and shows only some very faint scratches.
