    Best Fingerstyle Thumbpick Available, Period!

Posted by T Grieff on 22nd Aug 2020

I am a Chet Atkins/ Tommy Emmanuel Fingerstyle player and i have been playing for 38 yrs and had been still trying to find the best thumbpick/fit since. Every thumbpick i have tried no matter the maker of the placstic ones either slips from being too weak or too tight and killing my thumb. And the tone from them are all dull. So i bit the bullet and tried the Bluechip JD-M and the search is now over, its the first thumbpick i have ever had that the shank is not too long and i had to adjust. This pick first of all when you first get it has to be made to fit your thumb, and you can do it yourself. It just takes a short minute to do, just bend and adjust it to fit your thumb if you dont you wont like it. But once you get it fit it sure dosent move, and the material used is way way better than plastic. The tone, attack, punch and overall fit and playability is perfect, simply the prefect fit. I know there are players saying they are too expensive, not when it works! Remember every piece of gear makes a difference in the tone your trying to achieve, and dont forget about the pick your using! Highly Highly reccomended, you will be so glad you switched to Bluechip!

    Excellent Thumbpick

Posted by Paul on 9th Aug 2020

Great tone and very comfortable. I've used Nationals for guitar and blue Hercos on steel for decades. This pick replaces them both. It feels lighter on the thumb than a National but has beefier and clearer tone. Really brings out bass strings. Also does flat picking runs on a guitar nicely... it's smooth and doesn't catch. Going to have to buy another as a backup!

    Great Tone and Very Comfortable

Posted by Banjo Saint on 19th Jul 2020

The blue chip thumb picks are both capable of producing beautiful tone without pick noise as well as being very comfortable at the same time. While I have not played every thumb pick available in over 40 years of playing, I have played most of the popular picks and have used the blue chip since they came out. Given what we spend on a banjo, lessons books and the time we invest to improve our playing, the blue chips are a deal.

    Great sounding!

I ordered a JD thumbpick and l like it but the blade was longer than I prefer. I special ordered one with a shorter blade and it is awesome! It’s comfortable and doesn’t turn or slip. I’m used to tight picks the cut off the blood to my thumb. This pick stays wear I put it and it’s very comfortable and stable. The guys at BlueChip know what they’re doing!

    I was curious...

Posted by Brian on 5th Jun 2020

The pick material clearly has delivered for a lot of musicians, but I was concerned about the metal band. It turns out that it works really well - It’s the only thumb pick I’m using. I am very pleased with this product!

Great Pick May Require Some Adjusting to Fit

Posted by Shawn on 3rd Feb 2020

I normally wear a Large National Thumbpick which fits my thumb perfectly. The Large BCT are too loose for me, so I order the medium BCT and adjust it to properly fit my thumb. It's pretty easy to adjust with some needle nose pliers so it fits your thumb and doesn't slip. I prefer the sound of the BCT over the softer National thumbpicks.

    It's a great sounding Pick.

Posted by Kim Stewart on 3rd Apr 2019

This is a great sounding pick. Feels good except for I have to jam it on tighter than I was expecting so it doesn't spin, so it cuts off some circulation like most thumbpicks. I like the fact that the band it doesn't hook accidently on any of the strings. I highly recommend it, I am glad I purchased it.

    Excellent

Posted by Reuben Mezrich on 29th Mar 2019

I've been looking for a new thumb pick to replace the National I've been using for a while..my problem with this and previous thumb picks is that it would not stay in place and sometimes the bottom would catch on a string. This new pick from Blue Chip fits comfortably, doesn't move and has nothing to catch onto the strings. Additionally, the length of the pick matches what I had on the National so I didn't have to adapt to a new pick. This is in distinction to metal picks I got from Deering, which were much shorter. The Blue Chip are pricier, but I think well worth the extra money It may be just mental, but I think my playing has improved with these new picks
