This is our JD Crowe thumb pick in a size medium. This pick was designed by JD Crowe and constructed to his very exacting specifications. The BCT-JDL is the exact pick that JD uses. The pick bears JD's initials on the inside between the rivets. It is constructed using a custom designed stainless steel band and a 50/1000 of an inch(1.25mm) thick BlueChip pick. These picks are laser etched, professionally machined, and hand beveled to create the best thumb pick available.
Size compares to a standard medium thumb pick of any brand.

I’m relatively new to banjo (3 months in), and had been using the DAddario Classic Celluloid thumb & finger picks (medium). I noticed recently that the DAddario thumb pick was often making scraping noises when I hit the strings in a particular angle, so I looked for a high quality thumb pick, and after some research, I felt that this BCT-JDM would be a good upgrade. When I got my BCT-JDM, I noticed it was a little big on me, so I added some sticky note + duct tape on the inside and now it fits perfectly. It also sounds amazing! No scraping noise at all at any angle, and I’ve been playing with it for like 2 weeks now.

I am writing this to say thank you to you and all your team for your attention to detail and commitment. I have played a guitar for over 20 years and i'm now the proud 3 week old father of a banjo. I bought a set of plastic finger and thumb picks when i ordered the banjo and i've already had the finger picks overheat and deform off to a slanted side while burning in rolls. I had seen the great reviews you have gotten for your style and workmanship on picks so i placed my order and i've really enjoyed watching the delivery tracking all across America to Ireland. I love these picks. They can be quiet, soft and melodic then a change in my finger attack brings the noise! It took 2 days to shape them to my fingers properly and now i'm kicking myself because i never ordered flatpicks for my guitar (she's silently glaring at me now out of lack of attention). Anyway i just wanted to say thank you. I appreciate what you are doing and i wish you a happy and a rewarding life.

Was hesitant to purchase due to cost, but I am super satisfied. No pick noise on the strings and extremely comfortable!

Can highly recommend.
Excellent construction and fits well. The tilt in the thumb wrap of the pick is great. Im not worrying about my pick sliding around in the middle of playing.
Its a bit pricey...I know...but...now that I have it...not going back.

My friends asked me why I purchased a pricey thumb pick, for me because it is high quality and I feel it is part of my body, I could control it naturally without too much tension or looseness on my thumb. I mostly use it on my acoustic and classical guitar.
I lost my last thumb pick which I used in the last two year, so I have to repurchase it again.
P.S. They have a few models and each model has different sizes, it is better to ask their support team before you purchase.

I've been using this pick for 2 years and nothing else comes close. Since then, it hasn't worn at all and only needs slight adjustments once in a blue moon. If you're into the Merle Travis, Chet Atkins, or Tommy Emmanuel style, this will not just give you great feel, but a great flare to your artistry as well.

I’ve played a lot of picks. Nothing pulls tone from an instrument better. Nothing outlasts these picks. I like other picks, but Blue Chip picks are the best there is PERIOD

I first became aware at banjo thon when this pick was being
Tested..tried it and immediately didn’t like it…but once the JD blade was introduced I tried one a few years later and it’s perfect, very stable fit in your thumb for the best control and the “blue chip” material is very balanced and smooth when using metal Hoffmeyer picks( best finger picks) and I alternate from banjo to pedal steel and the blue chip works just as well when playing it also…I have several…ok more than several don’t ever want to “run” out..and customer service is exemplary, well done!

Great picks with attack and tone and not as deep as cheaper picks so faster and better note separation. Can't really adjust so I bought both large and medium; medium seems to work best (long, thin fingers). Teamed with Shelor finger picks; work great together and can play for hours without hangnails or pain.

I was skeptical to spend the money for a JDM and set on making due with out of the plastic box at the music store thumb picks. A friend recommended I buy one and I'm glad for the extra push to do so. I can't be happier. The fit, the working length of the pick, the hardness of the pick for tone, that it is well built and meant to last means the hardest thing I have to do is not to misplace it! Worth every penny.
