Product Overview

This is our JD Crowe thumb pick in a size medium. This pick was designed by JD Crowe and constructed to his very exacting specifications. The BCT-JDL is the exact pick that JD uses. The pick bears JD's initials on the inside between the rivets. It is constructed using a custom designed stainless steel band and a 50/1000 of an inch(1.25mm) thick BlueChip pick. These picks are laser etched, professionally machined, and hand beveled to create the best thumb pick available.

Size compares to a standard medium thumb pick of any brand.

Worth every dollar and then some

Posted by Seb on 23rd Oct 2012

AS a left-handed player, I usually had poor choices of thumbpicks in stores. Determined to rid myself of this problem, I ordered a BCT-JDM (left handed of course). I'm never playing with anything else again. Not only does it instantly feel like an old friend, but the tone it gives your instrument is amazing, way above any expectations.

    Extraordinary

By far the best and most comfortable thumb pick I've ever had (BCT-JDM). And I have a few ... It is very comfortable, it does not slide, the tone is very nice and not aggressive, and the blade does not interfere with the strings. BlueChip Picks really have done a great job, and their international delivery service is very fast. Thank you very much to the team.

There is not a better pick for me.

Posted by Wes Lassiter "Banjo Island" Frisco NC on 30th Aug 2012

I have been playing banjo in professional settings for the last 35 years and just happened on the Blue Chip pick when my partner in the band bought me one for my guitar. Within minutes I realized my tortoise shell had suddenly become a relic. Being mainly a banjo player I said well lets get a thumb pick and see what happens. I now sit and play in stunned silence as to how great a difference this pick has over all the rest. My tone is better, notes sound cleaner, never a hint of the scrappy sound just clear notes and it fits perfectly on my finger with no slippage ever. Truly this is the best thing going. It is worth every red cent. Thanks for making these.

The one that sounds the best.

Posted by Jesse G. Sourenian on 20th Aug 2012

I'm a French banjoist (and singer) in a band called The Country Ramblers and I used many thumb picks in all plastic or either in all metal, and this seems to be the one that sounds the best and to be the more comfortable I've tied, to go with my Sammy Shelor finger picks (which I thing are the best also as finger picks).

    Another work of art

Posted by DeWitt Beeler on 20th Jul 2012

OK, let me get this out up front, I returned the pick. But that's just because I decided I'm just not a thumbpick guy, plain and simple. But in terms of the product itslef: the Blue Chip pick material behaves just as you'd expect: smooth, precise, just flawless. The point where the band joins the pick is beautifully designed and executed, no little ridges or gaps to gradually get on your nerves. The metal band: what a piece of craftsmanship. The contours, and the precision with which they've executed them, is really impressive. So if you want a thumpick, you can't go wrong with this. And remember, you're dealing with people at Blue Chip who are, in my considerable experience with them, almost pathologically committed to customer satisfaction.

THE Most comfortable Thumb pick that I have found

Posted by Barry Bouchillon on 8th Jun 2012

The BCT-JDM is the absolute most comfortable thumb pic. I believe I have tried almost every one on the market. I may have missed one. Looking for that feel and the sound was my motivation. This pick gives me both. The craftsmanship is outstanding and I believe this pick will last me for many, many years.

    The perfect thumb pick!

Posted by Dave on 17th May 2012

I have tried just about every thumb pick currently on the market and this one beats them all. It can be easily adjusted slightly smaller or larger if needed and the band is etched so that it will not slip. The quality of this product is second to none. I highly recommend it.
