Loading... Please wait...This is our JD Crowe thumb pick in a size medium. This pick was designed by JD Crowe and constructed to his very exacting specifications. The BCT-JDL is the exact pick that JD uses. The pick bears JD's initials on the inside between the rivets. It is constructed using a custom designed stainless steel band and a 50/1000 of an inch(1.25mm) thick BlueChip pick. These picks are laser etched, professionally machined, and hand beveled to create the best thumb pick available.
Size compares to a standard medium thumb pick of any brand.

Having worn my 20+ plus year yellowed and worn down to a nub original National pick down to a tiny little stub, I have been on the hunt for a decent thumb pick.
I'm one of those in a band, playing out contemporary folk people and pout in about 5- 7 hours of time a week on my Taylors and an older Gurian.
This pick is phenomenal in terms of the lack of noise, clarity of tone in the midrange and bass of the guitars and smoothness of attack. And it fits! I often need something between a small and medium and the flexibility of the band gives me a great fit with no sliding.
Now if I can our mandolin player to get one, I would be thrilled. Only problem is her 3 year old likes to steal away with her picks and put them in their houseplants!
Anway, make that 5 kisses, not stars!

The JD Thumb pick feels like an extension of my thumb. I am enjoying it very much. It is very comfortable and the tone is so much better than what I used previously. I am glad I made the purchase. I also own the TAD-3R 40 flat pick and yes, I like it also!!!

AS a left-handed player, I usually had poor choices of thumbpicks in stores. Determined to rid myself of this problem, I ordered a BCT-JDM (left handed of course). I'm never playing with anything else again. Not only does it instantly feel like an old friend, but the tone it gives your instrument is amazing, way above any expectations.

I love the sound I get from Blue Chip products.

By far the best and most comfortable thumb pick I've ever had (BCT-JDM). And I have a few ...
It is very comfortable, it does not slide,
the tone is very nice and not aggressive, and the blade does not interfere with the strings.
BlueChip Picks really have done a great job, and their international delivery service is very fast.
Thank you very much to the team.

I have been playing banjo in professional settings for the last 35 years and just happened on the Blue Chip pick when my partner in the band bought me one for my guitar. Within minutes I realized my tortoise shell had suddenly become a relic. Being mainly a banjo player I said well lets get a thumb pick and see what happens. I now sit and play in stunned silence as to how great a difference this pick has over all the rest. My tone is better, notes sound cleaner, never a hint of the scrappy sound just clear notes and it fits perfectly on my finger with no slippage ever. Truly this is the best thing going. It is worth every red cent. Thanks for making these.

I'm a French banjoist (and singer) in a band called The Country Ramblers and I used many thumb picks in all plastic or either in all metal, and this seems to be the one that sounds the best and to be the more comfortable I've tied, to go with my Sammy Shelor finger picks (which I thing are the best also as finger picks).

OK, let me get this out up front, I returned the pick. But that's just because I decided I'm just not a thumbpick guy, plain and simple. But in terms of the product itslef: the Blue Chip pick material behaves just as you'd expect: smooth, precise, just flawless. The point where the band joins the pick is beautifully designed and executed, no little ridges or gaps to gradually get on your nerves. The metal band: what a piece of craftsmanship. The contours, and the precision with which they've executed them, is really impressive.
So if you want a thumpick, you can't go wrong with this. And remember, you're dealing with people at Blue Chip who are, in my considerable experience with them, almost pathologically committed to customer satisfaction.

since getting my first BlueChip pick from a friend in a bluegrass group "Tomrrows News" we will use nothing else. This thumb pick is awesome and gives such a solid sound and feels great! Thanks BC.
