Product Description

This is our JD Crowe thumb pick in a size large. This pick was designed by JD Crowe and constructed to his very exacting specifications. The BCT-JDL is the exact pick that JD uses. The pick bears JD's initials on the inside between the rivets. It is constructed using a custom designed stainless steel band and a 50/1000 of an inch(1.25mm) thick BlueChip pick. These picks are laser etched, professionally machined, and hand beveled to create the best thumb pick available.

Size compares to a standard large thumb pick of any brand.

  1. Awesome pick 5 Star Review

Posted by on 20th Feb 2018

This is a very well made and comfortable pick. The more I use it, the more I like it. I seem to be getting more punch out of my Huber banjo. I pick deep into the pick, so I hang on the band occasionally but that is my own fault. It feels loose but never slips. It is good to pick for long periods of time without blood circulation loss!

  2. You will feel and ear the difference 5 Star Review

Very well ajusted to the thumb and confortable even for long session. Produce a very warm and round sound. A bit pricey but worth it.

  3. Great fit and finish 5 Star Review

Fast off the strings and delivers a great tone. My new standard. My greatest surprise was the comfort level. The pick has a confident grip but never feels tight or loose. Well made craftsmanship, something very special.

  4. Very Nice! 5 Star Review

I am a finger picking guitarist who had settled in on using golden gate thumb picks (clown barf ones) accompanied with 3 national brass finger picks. Now don't get my wrong, the golden gates are great... They fit well and sound good, however eventually they break where the curve meets the pick part. The BC JD pick fits nearly the same as my golden gates did, but with the advantage of a bit less sliding around while playing. It feels great and sounds great, and should last a good long while with that metal band. Very satisfied!

  5. comfortable 5 Star Review

Tone is similar to the clown puke picks maybe a little more muddy but I tend to play on the leading edge of the of the pick. Im sure angle of attack has alot to do with tone. The metal band is extremely comfortable and doesn't rotate on the thumb yet does not cut off blood flow. No more black thumb..

  6. BCT-JDL : Comfort and tone 5 Star Review

Posted by on 20th Nov 2017

The first impression when trying the BCT-JDL is one of unexperienced before comfort. I used to play with a metal thumpick but it alsways ended up being painful after a 45minute set.
The tone is also particularly impressive compared to ant other thumb picks I have tried over the years.
The BCT-JDL may be more expensive than the other picks but, believe me, it's well worth it.

  7. love the carson blade 5 Star Review

Really like the thumb pick with the Carson blade. Now my thumb doesn't hit the strings.

  8. no comparison 5 Star Review

Posted by on 26th Sep 2017

Been using the JDL for a number of years now, and it's performance for me, has no comparison.
My reasons for using the JDL are the same as most people that use the product. Comfort on the thumb, (not dealing with your pick loosening after a short time or so tight it's uncomfortable. The other being the even tone you get- no scratchiness as with typical plastic thumbpicks.
Your product, in my opinion, is superior.

  10. There is no other thumbpick after you try this one 5 Star Review

Posted by on 5th Jun 2017

As a guitarist for over 25 years and a banjo player for about 5, I've used many different brands and styles of thumb picks. I made the switch from a Propik thumbpick as my preferred one to the blue chip and haven't looked back. Less string noise, noticeable tone difference, superior comfort, and the knowledge that this pick will last a long time has made me a very happy customer.
