This is our JD Crowe thumb pick in a size large. This pick was designed by JD Crowe and constructed to his very exacting specifications. The BCT-JDL is the exact pick that JD uses. The pick bears JD's initials on the inside between the rivets. It is constructed using a custom designed stainless steel band and a 50/1000 of an inch(1.25mm) thick BlueChip pick. These picks are laser etched, professionally machined, and hand beveled to create the best thumb pick available.
Size compares to a standard large thumb pick of any brand.

I was concerned that the thumb pick would not fit right. I'm not a large person but I have used the large golden Gate picks so far. Well the JDCrowe thumb pick in large fit perfect.
I am very pleased with the tone from the pick. It is warm and smooth and plays very easy.

I am a beginning banjo picker. I've been picking for about a year. Recently, I asked my instructor what he recommended and he showed me his BlueChip Thumb Pick. I ordered one right away. This is by far the best thumb pick I have used to pick the banjo. It is so comfortable and fits so well. It doesn't move around on my thumb. I love it and highly recommend it.

Right off the bat, it was great. Won't hang up on strings. Taking me a little while to get use to the length, but that will come with time. Everyone I have talked to, says they last forever and it appears so. Much better sound than my steel thump picks and plastic picks can't hold a candle to it. It's a winner in my book. Well worth the price tag.

For my banjo this is the most comfortable thumb pick I've used. My main instrument is the guitar and I prefer my regular thumb pick that has a ring that fits further along the thumb (over the crescent moon). I find this one isn't quite in the right place for me, but, some reason, this doesn't bother me when playing the banjo. So it stays on the banjo! I use a Blue Chip TD60 plectrum when I flatpick on my guitar. I love it!

I recently had the opportunity to ask the banjo player for Doyle Lawson what thumb pick he used. I saw the metal band and wondered what it was. He told me about Blue chip picks and I immediately ordered one to try. I still can't believe the difference a thumb pick can make in my picking! There is such a difference in the tone and speed with this pick!! This is an outstanding product and I HIGHLY recommend it!

As a 7 string finger picker I've become obsessed with thumbpicks.I've bought so many.At first I bought the Blue chip thumbpick out of curiosity and I wouldn't dare admit to buying a $40.00 thumbpick to anyone.I really hoped tht it wasn't worth the money but when I played for my wife using various picks she always chose the blue chip as the best sound. She's not a picker but she's heard me for years.

If you had told me I would fall in love with a metal-banded thumbpick I would have told you to share your medication with me; this is the most comfortable, anti-snag thumbpick I have ever used.
And even if that weren't the case, the BlueChip material itself sells this pick. The shorter, wider "Crowe" blade allows for smoother rakes, faster picking, and incredible tone that surpasses even my tortoise-shell thumbpick.
Matt and company have raised the bar for thumbpicks and picks in general, and they are relentlessly trying to outdo themselves. The proof is on my thumb.
