Product Description

This is our JD Crowe thumb pick in a size large. This pick was designed by JD Crowe and constructed to his very exacting specifications. The BCT-JDL is the exact pick that JD uses. The pick bears JD's initials on the inside between the rivets. It is constructed using a custom designed stainless steel band and a 50/1000 of an inch(1.25mm) thick BlueChip pick. These picks are laser etched, professionally machined, and hand beveled to create the best thumb pick available.

Size compares to a standard large thumb pick of any brand.

  1. Great Product, Great Service 5 Star Review

Posted by on 14th Jul 2014

The BlueChip team is very helpful and communication with questions or responding to tickets about issues is stellar. I've had nothing but the best service from them.

The product? Simply the only thumb pick I use now. It took a little while to get used to the feel, and the shape, but once I found the right spot, I've not looked at using any other thumb picks on the market....none of them come anywhere near the power and tone I get from my BlueChip picks (I have one of each + one special custom all of them are killer tools in my arsenal).

  2. Best fitting thumb pick ever! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 23rd May 2014

I've had trouble finding thumb picks that really fit since I first started picking on the banjo 15 years ago. No pick I ever found ever felt quite secure, and I would find myself pushing the pick back into place every few minutes. That all changed when someone had me check out their new Bluechip thumb pick. The first time I tried it, I instantly felt the difference. It just seemed to fit securely and comfortably for the outset. I ordered one the very next day, and I've enjoyed every second of playing it. I only wish I'd found it years before!

  3. Great thumb pick 5 Star Review

Makes great clean sound striking strings. Put it on and forget about it--stays put on my thumb, most comfortable thumb pick I've used, does not get in the way. I couldn't ask for more.

  4. Superior Thumb Pick 5 Star Review

Unbelievable fit and performance. Doesn't slide around on the thumb and totally eliminates the chafing sound produced by other picks. Provides a tremendous boost to the sound quality and playing confidence.

  5. A top quality thumb pick 5 Star Review

Posted by on 3rd Feb 2014

I have used a number of different thumb picks since learning to play the banjo. Other plastic style picks require alteration, either bending to shape or trimming, to keep the pick on your thumb, and to prevent the back of the pick catching a string. The Blue Chip JD Crowe model pick is a top shelf product, and when it arrived, it required no bending or shaping. It fits my thumb and my picking style. I highly recommend the JD Crowe thumb pick for sits quality, shape, and tone.

  6. JDL Thumb pick rocks! 5 Star Review

    It's perfect.

  7. T'here's nothing better. 5 Star Review

Posted by on 24th Jan 2014

All that has been said about this pick is true.
How it fits, how it sounds, the feel, everything.
I cannot add any more except to say that it seems to
glide over the strings. It has just enough friction
to sound the note, but is slick enough to not slow you
down. Ease of play is the reason I use it.
The flat picks also are a dream.

  8. Blue chip delivers 5 Star Review

My favorite thumb pick. I'm used to having to file them down but not this one. It stays on, too! Thanks, guys.

  9. Best Pick Ever 5 Star Review

Posted by on 2nd Nov 2013

This is the best pick I have ever used. It increased the sound volume output of my banjo by 1/3. The tone is a little brighter than I like but it is still very good. I recommend it to anyone.

  10. My forever thumb pick 5 Star Review

Posted by on 17th Oct 2013

I have always used any random disposable thumb pick until getting a blue chip. For tone and comfort bluechip is second to none.
