Product Overview

The TP-1R is our classic triangular pick in a 40/1000 of an inch thickness with ONE ROUNDED CORNER.  All of our picks are professionally machined, hand beveled, and laser etched.

Quarters, Nickels and Dimes, if included in the pictures, are for size reference only. They are not etched on the picks or included with the sale. To use this reference, please place a coin on your current non-Bluechip pick and then compare to the pictures of our picks with coins on top of them. This will help you choose the pick that is closest to your current favorite size and shape.

    GREAT For Electric!

Posted by Warren on 27th Jun 2019

Hi, I have two other 50 picks which were too stiff for electric. Excellent for flatpicking acoustic but too hard for me on electric. Too bright on rhythm playing. 40 is PERFECT! I love the 1 rounded corner but think I want all 3 rounded as the sharp corners again too bright. Not the tone I like on the acoustic. I'll stick with the 50! At least I know now! I'll be buying more...maybe today! Best picks made!

    My Favorite Pick

Easy to handle, versatile pick with round and pointed edge makes for good variation in tone.

    Great pick

It is a great pick, with a shape which is really comfortable to hold. The tone is also very nice and natural as usual with BlueChip picks.

    TP40-1R ($35 is not expensive!)

Posted by Josiah on 8th Jun 2018

Many people have sticker shock at the $35 price tag for a pick--but let me tell you, that is LOW-COST for the improved quality of sound for your instrument (which you spent hundreds if not thousands of dollars on... plus maintenance and strings and amps and accessories). A fiddle's sound can be ruined by a lousy bow (us fiddlers spend upwards of $400 or even $1,000 for a quality bow), and the same extends to pick instruments. I bought this pick to replace a TP40-1R I lost. I've used the TP40-1R for 3 years now, and love the grip, strength, and speed bevel. The pick doesn't have the same "clicking" sound many picks have, and despite its strength (maintains bevel and tip shape for years (probably decades for an amateur like me) it is not rigid--it still has some give. Also, if you've never played a pick with a speed bevel, there's nothing like it. You'll also be amazed by how comfortable you get with your picking hand when your pick is not constantly being eroded by your playing (which leads to change in your pick-hand technique!). I recommend finding the Blue Chip booth at a music festival so you can trial the many different styles of pick shapes and widths.

    Great Grip

Posted by Joel on 1st Mar 2018

The grip is really fantastic on these picks. Much better than V or Gravity. $35 is steep for a pick and I will certainly cry if I lose it.

    Great pick

Posted by Vern on 24th Jan 2018

Got my first blue chip a few years ago, tried a couple different sizes, and shapes, settled on the TP-1R 40. Has become my gold standard for which all other picks are judged. For both Guitar and Mandolin it is my top choice.

    Best Flat Pick Ever

Posted by Tim James English on 23rd Nov 2017

This is the best Flat pick I have ever used. I’ve been playing Bluegrass/Gospel for about 40 years, & have used every pick material out there. This Flat Pick is the “Holy Grail” of all Flat picks. My TP-1R 40 is lightening fast off of the strings & produces very little , what I call “Pick Click”. Thank You Matthew Goins for an AWESOME product!
