Product Description

This is the TAD-1R pick in 60/1000th of an inch(1.5mm) thickness. It is identical to the TAD, but HAS ONE ROUNDED CORNER. All of our picks are professionally machined, hand beveled, and laser etched.

Quarters, Nickels and Dimes, if included in the pictures, are for size reference only. They are not etched on the picks or included with the sale. To use this reference, please place a coin on your current non-Bluechip pick and then compare to the pictures of our picks with coins on top of them. This will help you choose the pick that is closest to your current favorite size and shape.

  1. A true "Game Changer" 5 Star Review

Posted by on 21st Jan 2014

I simply cannot say enough about this pick, so I will keep it short and simple: Decide which style and thickness is for you, and buy one... If you are in any way disappointed, I will be surprised.

  2. Great for Mandolin 5 Star Review

Posted by on 27th Dec 2013

Just a quick review here, This TAD 60 is the nicest sounding, smoothest playing and most comfortable to hold pick I have ever used. the tone difference from all the other picks I have tried is amazing. The 1R shape gives the user an added profile for a softer tone but I usually prefer the more pointed tip.great product, thanks!

  3. BEST OF ALL PICKS 5 Star Review

Posted by on 8th Jun 2013

I have tried all the high grade picks on the market. The Red Bear, The Wegen, The V-Pick, and the Blue Chip pick is absolutely leaps and bounds above the rest. There is never a need to polish and the speed and tone that this pick delivers is unparalleled. I am a mandolin player and use the rounded corner most of the time, but when I really need to dig in and get loud on a solo I switch over to one of the pointed sides. The TAD 1R is the bast pick I have ever used.

  4. Love it! Smooth! Great with my Breedlove mandolin. 5 Star Review

Amazingly smooth. Feels great and stays in place. Engraving turned out awesome as well!

  5. Made me a better player! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 17th Feb 2013

As a relative newcomer to Mandolin, I was completely blown away by how much this pick improved my tone and technique. It allowed me to focus on my left hand technique alot more as well. Worth every penny. Will be ordering the CT-55 next!

  6. Just as good as ever. 5 Star Review

Posted by on 9th Feb 2013

As a guitarist and mandolinist with lots of instruments, it's great to know that I can get the tone out of all of them with just one pick. This is only my second BlueChip pick, and it's not my second because of the poor quality of the first. The other was just as top-notch, wear-resistant, and reliable as the one I have now -- I was dumb enough to lose that one on tour. I know that my Bluechip, the TAD-1R 60, will always be the best pick in my pouch for folk, bluegrass, and even swing jazz. Thanks Bluechip!

  7. CT55 and TAD60-1R 5 Star Review

Posted by on 14th Jan 2013

I ordered both of these picks with a round bevel. I'm a new mandolin player but a long time flatpicker. I'm really enjoying both picks and I don't really have a favorite yet. The TAD 60 has a little darker sound (especially when played on the 1R edge. But, I don't know if I could distinguish the sound if I didn't know which I was playing. Great picks...as are all the BC picks. Trick is finding the best one for you.

  8. Surprised with Tad-1R 60 5 Star Review

Posted by on 12th Nov 2012

I have owned about 8 different BC picks
I prefer the 50's or 60's with at least one round corner.

Lot's of people like the TD shape but I am not a fan even though I started with .70 to .96mm Rhino's. People told me that the longer I played that my picks would get thicker .

I was honed in on the CT-55 (own 3) and the TP1R (own 2) as my "go to" picks.

I ordered the Tad 1R-60 because my mandolin responds well to a thicker, slightly larger pick.

It turns out that my Collings rosewood/German dread also enjoys the 1.5 Tad and my old TS picks are sleeping in a safe place.

  9. Good so far 4 Star Review

Posted by on 7th Sep 2012

I have yet to use the pick on stage on a hot muggy sweaty day, but so far the pick has performed to the claims of Blue Chip & what the reviews had to say. So far I am very happy with the pick, & may be ordering another model, if I want to check out a thinner one or the Chris Thiele model. I like the one I bought tho a lot. Only gave it a 4 because I haven not given it the weaty hand/sticky string test.

  10. A Versatile Well-Made Pick 5 Star Review

Posted by on 26th Jun 2012

After using your CT-55 Mandolin Pick for over a year, I thought I would try this pick based on reviews I read on Mandolin Cafe. I couldn't be happier!
While the CT-55 is fabulous, this pick features a rounded corner which I like for a softer tone when desired and lends itself to tremolo, and the speed beveled edge offers a brighter sound. Overall the pick is just a bit brighter than the CT-55.
