  1. A believer 5 Star Review

Posted by on 2nd Apr 2015

Like so many others, I had to hear what a $35 pick sounded like. Turns out, so good that I ordered a TAD60 a few weeks after getting the TAD60 - 1R. I was worried that the BC picks would be too bright (particularly with the bevels) but they're not. While I'd rather use a 1.5 ProPlec and have dozens of them in reserve for the price of one BC, the fact is the BC sounds better - at least on my instrument - and is worth the extra money.

  2. TAD1R-60 is a really nice pick! 5 Star Review

I previously purchased the CT55, which I just love. Had an opportunity to get another, so I thought I'd try the thicker pick with the rounded corner. Nice!
The rounded is great for tremolo, lets out a nice breathy sound.

  3. TAD60-1R is 5 Star Review

    good. very good.

I recently ordered the TAD60-1R as my introduction into the bluechip lineup. It only took a week of using it before I ordered two more bluechips, the TD60 and the TP60-1R. They are fantastic, better than any other pick I have, and probably will, ever use.

I play solely electric- Fender Strat and Fender Mustang. Strings: TI 14-55 on strat, and Galla nylon tapewound 14-67 on mustang. Play mainly lead rock style guitar, think jimi + gilmour.

I, before delving into the expensive side of guitar picks, had used pretty exclusively the Fender medium, and other .73 picks- nylon and ultex assorted. I also found a favourite in the Eric Johnson Jazz 3s and Dunlop Jazztone series which are excellent as well. But then came a day when my innocence was lost, and i found out about bluechip, red bear, V-pick, and I of course had to try them. This was also around the time I amped up my string gauges, and suddenly my thin plastic picks felt very thin, and very plasticky. I picked up a v-pick, traditional ultra light, which i did like more than anything else I had tried. But i knew I would not be satisfied until I tried a bluechip so I dove in with the TAD60-1R. Now I can't go back.

Compared to the V-picks the TAD60-1R just sounds simply better. The tone is more lively, and noticeably more natural. Volume is increased, especially when played unplugged, which I often do. The pick is faster, and more precise- with both edges.

Compared to the plastic mass market picks, the TAD60-1R feels like an extension of your fingers. Feel is increased to a point where I only use the old picks to remind myself that the bluechips are fantastic.

Compared to the Wegen Gypsy Jazz, The TAD60-1R is slightly slower, but louder and brighter. The wegen is a fast pick, but does not offer a well pronounced note so much as it does a scraped one. For my purposes the TAD60-1R is much better, as I am more about the sound and pronunciation.

Compared to the TD60, the TAD60-1R is louder and offers a more pronounced note. However, I find the TD60 a little more versatile sound wise when using the round edges. The contrast is greater than in the TAD60-1R. However, I prefer the sound quality out of the TAD60-1R. A little trickier to manoeuvre, but the sound is worth it-- so clear and defined.

Compared to the TP60-1R, the TAD60-1R is bigger and sounds bigger. The TP60-1R feels faster, and offers better note pronunciation than the TD60, but it is not as pronounced as the TAD60-1R.

Although big at first, and slightly slower than other bluechip options, the TAD60-1R is the best pick I have ever used. Thanks Bluechip, now my favourite pick cost $35.

  4. An amazing pick with incredible tone 5 Star Review

Posted by on 30th Dec 2014

The TAD 60-1R is a great pick. I use it on mandolin and I find that both the pointed and rounded edges work great and give me exactly the tone I need. I was previously using the Proplec and the Blue Chip gives me more volume and speed. The pick comes off the strings quickly and also sticks to my fingers. I have yet to drop one and I tend to drop picks.

  5. Pick and Grin! 4 Star Review

Posted by on 26th Aug 2014

TAD 60-1R is a good match for me. Electric, acoustic guitar, mandolin and even bass guitar. I've played stringed instruments for nearly 50 years and have suffered some nerve damage and arthritis in recent years, but this pick is easy to hold on. Obviously very responsive and powerful. Love the versatility of having both pointed and round tips. Expensive enough I opted to pay extra $5 for my name engraved!

  6. TAD60-1R 5 Star Review

Posted by on 22nd May 2014

I have a few different Blue Chip picks. For Bluegrass and Country playing on my dreadnought, it is by far and away the best sounding and smoothest playing. I like the two different points two.

Everytime I try an old cheaper pick...well I don't do that anymore.

  7. TAD 1-R 60 5 Star Review

Posted by on 12th May 2014

I have been using Blue Chip now for about two years. I have several of them and have found they are pretty much everything they are cracked up to be. I experimented with different shapes and finally settled on the TAD-1R 60 for mandolin.

Slick but tacky with no string noise. Great attack and release due to the beveling, and no wear. The new engraving extra is pretty nice too.

I have tried nearly everything from Red Bear, Golden Gate, Wegan, etc. You won't regret this pick. Just be sure what shape and thickness you want prior to ordering.

    Good luck!

  8. A true "Game Changer" 5 Star Review

I simply cannot say enough about this pick, so I will keep it short and simple: Decide which style and thickness is for you, and buy one... If you are in any way disappointed, I will be surprised.

  9. Great for Mandolin 5 Star Review

Posted by on 27th Dec 2013

Just a quick review here, This TAD 60 is the nicest sounding, smoothest playing and most comfortable to hold pick I have ever used. the tone difference from all the other picks I have tried is amazing. The 1R shape gives the user an added profile for a softer tone but I usually prefer the more pointed tip.great product, thanks!

  10. BEST OF ALL PICKS 5 Star Review

Posted by on 8th Jun 2013

I have tried all the high grade picks on the market. The Red Bear, The Wegen, The V-Pick, and the Blue Chip pick is absolutely leaps and bounds above the rest. There is never a need to polish and the speed and tone that this pick delivers is unparalleled. I am a mandolin player and use the rounded corner most of the time, but when I really need to dig in and get loud on a solo I switch over to one of the pointed sides. The TAD 1R is the bast pick I have ever used.
