This is the TAD-1R pick in 40/1000th of an inch(1.0mm) thickness. It is identical to the TAD, but HAS ONE ROUNDED CORNER. All of our picks are professionally machined, hand beveled, and laser etched.
Quarters, Nickels and Dimes, if included in the pictures, are for size reference only. They are not etched on the picks or included with the sale. To use this reference, please place a coin on your current non-Bluechip pick and then compare to the pictures of our picks with coins on top of them. This will help you choose the pick that is closest to your current favorite size and shape.

Good sounding pick. I was hesitant to spend $35 for a pick but I am happy with it. Same size as a 50 year old Ovation pick I like to use. I expected the surface to be tackier. That would be an improvement for me. Anything to improve my grip on it.

I have been using a Tad 50 1-R and a CT 55 for several years. I ordered the Tad 40 1-R to use on a smaller guitar with extra light strings. Mission accomplished! I really appreciate the free engraving, shipping, and pick pouch. I also play tenor banjo and Blue Chips work great there too. Thanks for great products and customer service.

The TAD-1R40 is a fantastic addition to the pick arsenal!! A distinct difference between the sharp points and the one rounded point! Demonstrating it to some friends and they asked what was different…….they could hear it!! The rounded point “mellowed out” some of the brightness of the sharp points and really does make a difference on multiple guitars I have tried it on.

I resisted Blue Chips for years (cost!). A student gave me my first two and I'm over my reticence.
Whatever the material is, it doesn't wear at all that I've seen. Best, it produces great tone without drag. It leaves the strings at exactly the nanosecond you want.
My first with one round tip was a 55, so I thought I'd try the 40. Despite only using quite thick picks on mando for years, I now prefer this 40 over others.
I prefer this to tortoises a friend gave me decades ago too, which was not predictable.

I've been using TPR's & TP-1R's since 2008, and have ALWAYS loved them. Just figured I couldn't like any pick any more than those. Just started on the mandolin recently and decided to give a TAD-1R a try. Really like the extra grip & stability that the extra width brings. Have started using it on guitar as well. All fantastic products!

I have become quite the pick snob these days and having a lefty beveled pick for both mando and guitar is great. I use it for mandocello as well. great tone, feel and versatility. Bravo!

I really like this pick for my first Blue Chip pick. In time I’d like to try a little thicker-heavier pick for my dreadnaught.

blue chip pics bring out the finest tonality your instrument is capable of.
It brings out the overtones and all the richness and the color and the vibrance of any stringed instrument. Especially if you have a high-quality instrument ,like a Taylor or Martin etc.… All of the magic comes out with this pic alone. There is no comparison to any other standard cheap pick. as an audiophile… The sound improvement with these pics is so dramatic it’s hard to express or explain… You just have to experience it to understand it! I personally found that new chords that I never thought of or learned would simply emerge because the combination of strings played are harmonized with this pic in a way that is not possible with other cheaper standard pics. I was super skeptical with a friend recommended this pricier pic then, when I played with it it blew my mind and I’ve been playing for 35 years and nothing compares I recommend you try them out if you are a serious musician or just want to get the best sound out of your instrument.
