Product Description

This is the TAD pick in 50/1000 of an inch(1.25mm) thickness. It is shaped identically to the TP, but is slightly larger. All BlueChip Picks are professionally machined, laser engraved, and hand beveled.

Quarters, Nickels and Dimes, if included in the pictures, are for size reference only. They are not etched on the picks or included with the sale. To use this reference, please place a coin on your current non-Bluechip pick and then compare to the pictures of our picks with coins on top of them. This will help you choose the pick that is closest to your current favorite size and shape.

  1. TAD50 a little too stiff, otherwise superb!! 4 Star Review

Posted by on 13th Nov 2017

Being completely new to the product, I researched as much as possible prior to purchase; but until you can actually play with the pick, it is hard to get a feel for the texture, size and stiffness, etc. So, I am fine with the pick in general, but now that I have played with this pick, in hind sight I would have ordered a TAD40. The TAD50 is a little stiff for my preference.I am playing a a Gibson A0 pre-1920.

Highly recommend them. I like the TAD 50. The TAD40 gives a little brighter tone and is great also.Very consistent feel and action.

  3. I was skeptical. I was wrong. 5 Star Review

Posted by on 6th Nov 2017

I had read a few interviews with people like Chris Eldridge and Julian Lage in which they said these picks are incredibly. How can a pick be incredible? That was my thought process.

A friend nudged me and said I was wrong.

Well, I did an A/B between my old Dunlop Ultex 1.14mm and the TAD 50, and the difference was striking. It sounded better. Fuller. I couldn't believe it. It really does matter. If you're skeptical, I can tell you honestly that I get it. I was never going to spend more money on picks than I had historically. But, I was wrong. Worth every penny.

  4. TAD 50 5 Star Review

These picks are amazing! I love the way they stay put between your thumb and finger. They will make your picking faster because they glide so easy over the strings. They bring out the tone in your guitar! Why spend thousands of dollars on a great guitar and 50 cents on a pick? The Blue Chip picks are worth the money! I called them and ordered mine engraved, it was here the next day.. thanks Blue Chip!

  5. Expensive but definitely the best 5 Star Review

Sounds clean, doesn't wear down and is easy to hold. Very good tone and worth the extra money

  6. good for some 4 Star Review

Posted by on 3rd Oct 2017

I've been using the pic for a few weeks. I've come to the conclusion that I should have bought the TAD 45. I'm just not ready for this thickness. I'm glad I have it and it was an upgrade from the 40 I bought a while back, but a little later I'll get the 45. Thanks for these products, I'll never get another brand.

  7. Really great 5 Star Review

Posted by on 10th Jul 2017

The TAD 50 is a great balance of power/drive with sensitivity and connection with the strings. I use this primarily for bluegrass on a custom martin dreadnought. Lately loving medium gauge nickel bronze strings as well. Just buy it.

  8. Best Tone and Consistant Pick Available 5 Star Review

Posted by on 5th Jun 2017

I have been picking stringed instruments for forty years. I have been through so many pick choices. I was given a Blue Chip pick by a friend to try and I have never used another brand. The tone, feel and consistency is second to none.
I use TAD-3R 40 for acoustic guitar and TAD 50 for mandolin.

  9. Perfect Pick for My Mandolin 5 Star Review

Posted by on 15th Mar 2017

I bought this pick along with a TAD 40 because I was not sure which I would like. On my particular mandolin (made by Jim Hillburn - #43, 2007) the TAD 50 seems perfect. I also have a CT 55, but though it feels and plays great, it is a little dark for this instrument.

  10. WOW! Game Changer! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 15th Nov 2016

I'm a believer. This is my third bluechip and I absolutely love them. I'm playing better, tone is outstanding - I feel as if I forget I am even holding a pick and my hands are magically guided to the exact point on or between strings. Truly a great product. I'll buy another soon. The TAD50 is perfect for me - I'm an acoustic / baritone player - heavy strummer and picker. Love it! Buy one - you won't be disappointed.
