Product Description

This is the TAD pick in 40/1000 of an inch(1.0mm) thickness. It is shaped identically to the TP, but is slightly larger. All BlueChip Picks are professionally machined, laser engraved, and hand beveled.

Quarters, Nickels and Dimes, if included in the pictures, are for size reference only. They are not etched on the picks or included with the sale. To use this reference, please place a coin on your current non-Bluechip pick and then compare to the pictures of our picks with coins on top of them. This will help you choose the pick that is closest to your current favorite size and shape.

  2. Perfect for hard driving bluegrass rhythm. 5 Star Review

I've been using triangular shaped picks for decades. I love the grip they afford and the fact that you get three corners to work with, extending the life of the pick. Having said that, I've never worn out a BlueChip pick. I mostly lose them. Thus it is nice to be able to have my name printed on one side (I have a short first and last name.) Since doing that I have not lost any. And for tone it's the best short of tortoise.

  3. Tremolo's best friend 5 Star Review

When a mandolin tune contains a lot of tremolo, I find the TAD40 a tad easier to use. Just the right amount of give in the pick to bring out double stops and pretty rifts in waltzes. Then I switch back to the TAD50 for faster, note-heavy songs. Great combo of picks that cover the waterfront for me.

A lot of money for a pick. Yes. But when you think of the daily pleasure with good tone and perfect feeling - for a long time … And your guitar is happy too …

  5. Great Mandolin Pick 5 Star Review

Posted by on 1st Feb 2022

I’m not a great golfer so it doesn’t matter what type a golf ball I use. I’m not a professional mandolin player either but this pick does make me better. This pick seems to glide across the strings while providing volumes and tones closer to a thin pick. Love my BlueChip pick. I’ll be ordering more.

  7. THE ARMY KNIFE 5 Star Review

The TAD-40 with round bevels is the do-it-all, when-in-doubt, go-to, no fear tool for the job! I find it super useful to play with both sides of the striking surfaces, depending how n which sound I desire mid-song. It’s my most reliable and versatile performance companion!

  9. Loves! 5 Star Review

I got this pick for my fiancé and he said it has changed his life. He said it is the best pick he’s ever had and it has drastically changed how he plays. The sound that comes off the strings with this pick is amazing as well.

  10. The best picks I've found! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 22nd Dec 2021

I tried my first pick, knowing that all the hype was just that. I have learned many things since that, including how wrong I was. I was a believer after that, and now I have 6-one for each mandolin (4), octave mandolin, and now one for my tenor guitar. Yes, they cost more, but they are worth it. (Compare them to violin bows, sometime.) I did have a 7th one, but when I was packing up at a gig, a musician from the incoming band evidentially wanted to try one, also. I never saw it again. (I hope he at least bought more.)
