Product Description

This is the TAD pick in 40/1000 of an inch(1.0mm) thickness. It is shaped identically to the TP, but is slightly larger. All BlueChip Picks are professionally machined, laser engraved, and hand beveled.

Quarters, Nickels and Dimes, if included in the pictures, are for size reference only. They are not etched on the picks or included with the sale. To use this reference, please place a coin on your current non-Bluechip pick and then compare to the pictures of our picks with coins on top of them. This will help you choose the pick that is closest to your current favorite size and shape.

  1. My primary pick for years and years 5 Star Review

Posted by on 21st Dec 2021

The TAD 40 has been the primary pick I have used for many years. I gave away my tortoise pick and kevlar picks because they just sat in my case.

By way of disclosure, I play a 2005 Collings MT2V mandolin strung with D'Addario XT medium strings and have been playing for over 30 years.

This pick is my favorite for guitar. It is large enough to have a firm grip when picking melodies and strumming rhythm.

I love Blue Chip picks - was given one at a picking party some years back and wow, life changing.

  4. Better than tortoise? 5 Star Review

Posted by on 7th Oct 2021

I’ve considered tortoise shell picks to be the gold standard. I don’t know what Blue Chip picks are made of but they are the only picks that give tortoise a serious run for the money! And they are cheaper, easier to obtain and wear much better than tortoise.

  5. Hands down the best pick on the market! 5 Star Review

I wish they would have existed 40 years ago. Superior to anything I ever played with.

  6. The only pick for me 5 Star Review

Posted by on 8th Jul 2021

I've never used another pick since buying my first TADS40 a few years ago. I feel like this pick moves my skill level up by several notches. Perfect weight and machining for speed and accuracy.

I have used BlueChip picks for several years.
I carry two TAD 40 picks with me all the time.
Also, two in both guitar cases.
My last purchase was a gift for a Pastor friend.
I want all my friends to be as happy as I am.
    Thank You BlueChip!!!

  9. good mistake 5 Star Review

Posted by on 27th Jun 2021

I ordered the TAD 40 by mistake. I thought I ordered something different and was surprised when this was the pick I received. Turns out that I'm really happy about clicking on this pick by accident, I'm in love with how it performs. So much so that I went ahead and bought another one.

  10. Gift 4 Star Review

Posted by on 27th May 2021

I bought this pick for a friend because I like the ones I have bought for myself and a couple of other people I have gifted Blue Chips to have also liked them. My friend seemed to be attached to his 0.8 mm Clayton tricorner and I figured the TAD 40 I play might be too thick for him. I got advice from your team and as a result was able to order a TAD 40 which was actually a TAD 35. My friend seemed to like it and he sounded great while using the pick. Thanks for the special order.
