This is the TAD pick in 40/1000 of an inch(1.0mm) thickness. It is shaped identically to the TP, but is slightly larger. All BlueChip Picks are professionally machined, laser engraved, and hand beveled.
Quarters, Nickels and Dimes, if included in the pictures, are for size reference only. They are not etched on the picks or included with the sale. To use this reference, please place a coin on your current non-Bluechip pick and then compare to the pictures of our picks with coins on top of them. This will help you choose the pick that is closest to your current favorite size and shape.

I used to use tortoise and BlueChip helped to kick the habit. After ordering and losing a couple of earlier BlueChips I asked for a slightly thinner version of the TAD-40 and received one labelled TAD-35 which was just right for me.
They also helped me to determine that, though I am right-handed, my picks tended to wear like a lefty's - which meant I actually needed the left-hand bevel.
After settling on this perfect formula (for me) I recently took advantage of the holiday, free shipping promotion and ordered TWO spares- in case I lose another...
I recommend these! If you don't see one exactly like you want don't be afraid to ask!

Great pick. It's just the right size and doesn't slip. The thickness is ideal for me, as I play Irish Trad. and it works for those "twiddly bits". My only adjustment would be to have one of the triangle points a little more rounded.

The same size and thickness as the pics I wear out in 6 months, and I don't have to shape these. The shape and bevel are just right for me.
Sounds as good as my old retired tortoise.A simple twist of the pick angle gives tone variations. A flatpickers perfect tool.
If it's durability is as advertised, I'll be getting a spare. I'll know in a couple weeks.

Like a lot of folks, I was pretty skeptical about paying this much for a pick. But I went down to my local music shop and tried a few out, and was instantly sold. I was amazed that a pick could make as much difference in tone as it did (my $1000 mandolin sounds a lot closer to my friend's $3500 custom than it did). Plus, the general material of the pick and the bevel make it SO much quicker than any previous pick I have used. For me, the 40 was the perfect thickness, too. I'd encourage you to try 'em if you can, but either way a worthwhile purchase. They're certainly the most grippy pick I've ever used, but I find I have to wipe them off every few tunes, as the grip vanishes when they're at all wet. But on dry hands with a dry pick they're unbeatable. You'd spend $35 on a strap or other accessory without batting an eye, so its not so absurd to spend it on something as important as a pick.

The TAD 40 Blue Chip has quickly become my new favorite guitar pick. I have the TAD 60, TD 40, and TD 35 and use them occasionally as well. However, the size, shape, thickness, and design of the TAD 40 feels the most comfortable in my hand and I am most pleased with its sound. Bothered by some arthritis in my hands, the TAD 40 is easier for me to handle and any one of the three tips can be used.

I mainly use the CT 55. I can't imagine a better pick. Have a couple of the thinner ones for special situation, but the CT55 is my main pick. I didn't put it in my pouch the other day, and drove 20 miles to the gravel parking lot of the venue, and found it!! Without a doubt the best pick ever, and worth every penny.

I have bought and tried most of the blue chip picks (over 15)(still playing them) over the past few years... Depending on what instrument I am playing as to which pick I am using and what style music. (bluegrass, jazz, country, Celtic)
Great alternative to the TD-40... Better grip for harder and aggressive playing. I have big hands and I really like the size compared to the Kenny Smith.
I think I would buy a Blue Chip fiddle bow if they offer it... Great company and GREAT pics...
Why would you not spend your hard earned green back for your $1-20k instrument? Especially when you realize the tone and speed you get out of a BC pic.
Thats why Westbound Bluegrass is proud to endorse Blue Chip Pics...

I was always a user of Pro Plec pics till I tried one at this years fiddle festival in galax. I was sold from the first lick played on it. Everything just comes of so much more percise and smooth as butter. Just received my first one in the mail today :)
