Product Description

The Jazz pick is very similar in size and shape to the Dunlop Jazz 3 pick.  This is a Jazz in a 60/1000 of an inch(1.5mm) thickness. All of our picks are professionally machined, hand beveled, and laser etched. This pick has a universal rounded bevel.

Quarters, Nickels and Dimes, if included in the pictures, are for size reference only. They are not etched on the picks or included with the sale. To use this reference, please place a coin on your current non-Bluechip pick and then compare to the pictures of our picks with coins on top of them. This will help you choose the pick that is closest to your current favorite size and shape.

  1. makes you think differently about picks! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 20th Sep 2016

having tried wegens, red bear, chicken picks...this has the smoothest bevel, warmest tone, and 2nd (compared to wegen) loudest tone with minimal effort.

no holes, grooves, and yet the material almost adheres to the finger, making the connection to the guitar that much more direct.

read the rest of the reviews too, it's all true. the proof is in the craft.

  2. Been Searching For Years - This is it! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 11th Aug 2016

I've been search for 5 years to find "the" pick. I've tried everything from Red Bears to Pickboys, Wegens to buffalo horn. Finally, I can settle on this one as my favorite. It produces a clean, round tone and glides across the strings. Grip feels great and really gets you closer to that vintage jazz bebop sound. Thanks BlueChip, I'll definitely be back for more!

P.S. - If you take good care of this pick and do not lose it, the price will pay itself as this pick has yet to wear after weeks of playing.

  3. The best! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 6th Jun 2016

The best pick I have used hands down. Started out on Dunlop jazz 3 picks and look for similarly shaped and sized picks. Have tried out many different versions of dunlops, red bear jazzer picks, John Pearson fast turtles, pickboy horn and bone picks, Swiss picks, howling monkey tauga picks, graphtech tusq picks, and wegenpicks.

These are hands down the best. Harmonically they sound great, not overly warm with no definition and not just sharp and brittle sound, it has a very full and balanced tone. Feel wise they are slightly grippy to hold with no need for grips and they glide really smoothly over the strings. No wear on the pick so far, a pick to last a lifetime!

Super comfortable and great sounding picks to play!

  4. Nice pick! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 3rd Jun 2015

I'm trying several "high end" picks and so far this has been the most impressive. Glides through the strings and seems to make a real difference. Not quite sure why the heavier gauges jump up so much in price...

  5. THE Dunlop Jazz III replacement! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 23rd Mar 2015

This is the best pick material I've ever played. No need to search any further, this is the one for me. I have a bunch of these in my collection and I'm slowly increasing the number so I'll never have to go without. :)

I gave one of these to Eric Johnson (yes, THE EJ) and he loved it. Was hoping to convert him over to BlueChip. Who knows, he may decide to do that at some point. :)

  6. Dependable and indispensible! 5 Star Review

Very warm compared with the Dunlop Jazz III. Amazing I have not lost the first one I bought - even still I bought three more just in case.

  7. The best all-around pick for jazz guitar 5 Star Review

Posted by on 15th May 2014

Like many of the other reviewers, I've tried lots of picks made by boutique and mainstream companies. I've even tried a few of the smaller and larger BlueChip jazz picks and this is the best one for me. It has just the right balance of warmth, clarity, and speed. It's just big enough so that it doesn't make clicking noises when it hits the strings, but it's also small enough to enable me to forget that I'm holding a pick, so I can play fast and really hear the notes.

The price isn't that bad since I often spend $30 on high quality flatwound strings that won't last nearly as long as this pick.

  8. Expensive but worth it to me 5 Star Review

Posted by on 26th Aug 2013

I have tried a variety of picks and for me, Blue Chip are the best of the higher end ones. I have been playing this pick since May (3 months) and have probably put at least 200 hours on it.

The BC pick glides more smoothly against string contact and I find I can pick and play a little faster with it -- maybe a 1, 2 or 3% improvement. That's not much, but I have paid more for things that yielded a lower incremental return. Better yet, the improvement seems lasting and I think my picking is better now when I use regular picks, too.

The only detriment to the pick is that every time I use and play for more than an hour or so it always get extremely slippery in the grip for about 30 seconds or so. I don't know why it happens, but it does. (If someone at BC can tell me what to do about the slipperiness, I would appreciate it)

3 months in there is virtually no wear on the pick. I would buy another if I lost it.

  9. Everything else sounds like plastic 5 Star Review

Posted by on 8th Jun 2013

I played a lot of picks since nearly 40 years. I played nearly exclusively Wegen Picks in the end , but now , i never play anything else than Blue Chip Picks.

  10. In a league of its own 5 Star Review

Posted by on 28th Dec 2012

I'm a tone chaser. I play mostly jazz. I've tried dozens of picks and this pick is so much more dimensional and open than anything else I've tried. I brought it to my guitar shop and had my tech and others try it against theirs, and they were all shocked at how much better it sounded, how much more they could hear, and how dull and thin their picks sounded. If you're a tone chaser, this pick is a "must have".
