Product Description

The Jazz pick is very similar in size and shape to the Dunlop Jazz 3 pick.  This is a Jazz in a 60/1000 of an inch(1.5mm) thickness. All of our picks are professionally machined, hand beveled, and laser etched. This pick has a universal rounded bevel.

Quarters, Nickels and Dimes, if included in the pictures, are for size reference only. They are not etched on the picks or included with the sale. To use this reference, please place a coin on your current non-Bluechip pick and then compare to the pictures of our picks with coins on top of them. This will help you choose the pick that is closest to your current favorite size and shape.

  1. This Pick Has A Mind Of It's Own! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 19th May 2018

I was very hesitant about buying this pick. My thought process was probably a lot like yours… “$40 bucks for a guitar pick… are you crazy”??!! After a couple of months or research and reading all the reviews (and the money back guarantee) I decided to pull to trigger and get one. Upon taken the pick right out the bag and holding it I could feel the nice material (whatever it is) had some weight and it felt really good in my hand. The sound is very warm and unlike any other pick I have used, and I have used a LOT of various picks. The attack is spot on and it almost seems that the Blue Chip pick has a mind of it’s on. What I mean by that is the notes you are going for not only make perfect contact but make you reach and execute other notes in your playing that maybe you are not even thinking of at the time. In other words, this pick seems to make me a better player, or at least make me go for notes not worrying about if I can pull it off because the pick knows what I want and what I’m trying to achieve. And as a guitar player… that is EVERYTHING! With that said, this pick is worth every penny, if not more in my opinion. Now the only trick left is NOT to lose it! 

  2. Goodbye other picks 5 Star Review

Posted by on 26th Mar 2018

Tried this on a whim and fell in love. Great for bluegrass fiddle tunes on my acoustic or rock/jazz on my electrics: great tone, stays steadfast between my thumb and index finger, the real deal. Easy to palm for fingerpicking, too. Now I'm trying their other models to zero in on a pick I like the best, expensive but worth the cost.I often don't review musical products, but, I was taken with this pick. I thought it seemed expensive at first, but, after using it for a while, I eventually came to the conclusion that I was glad I pulled the trigger. Highest recommendation!.

  3. Hands down the finest picks on the market 5 Star Review

Posted by on 11th May 2017

I've used Blue Chip picks in the past and I've always been impressed with their grip, feel and starting release. The Jazz III shape of this pick just makes everything that much better as the J3 pick shape is much more precise and affords much better control

  4. makes you think differently about picks! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 20th Sep 2016

having tried wegens, red bear, chicken picks...this has the smoothest bevel, warmest tone, and 2nd (compared to wegen) loudest tone with minimal effort.

no holes, grooves, and yet the material almost adheres to the finger, making the connection to the guitar that much more direct.

read the rest of the reviews too, it's all true. the proof is in the craft.

  5. Been Searching For Years - This is it! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 11th Aug 2016

I've been search for 5 years to find "the" pick. I've tried everything from Red Bears to Pickboys, Wegens to buffalo horn. Finally, I can settle on this one as my favorite. It produces a clean, round tone and glides across the strings. Grip feels great and really gets you closer to that vintage jazz bebop sound. Thanks BlueChip, I'll definitely be back for more!

P.S. - If you take good care of this pick and do not lose it, the price will pay itself as this pick has yet to wear after weeks of playing.

  6. The best! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 6th Jun 2016

The best pick I have used hands down. Started out on Dunlop jazz 3 picks and look for similarly shaped and sized picks. Have tried out many different versions of dunlops, red bear jazzer picks, John Pearson fast turtles, pickboy horn and bone picks, Swiss picks, howling monkey tauga picks, graphtech tusq picks, and wegenpicks.

These are hands down the best. Harmonically they sound great, not overly warm with no definition and not just sharp and brittle sound, it has a very full and balanced tone. Feel wise they are slightly grippy to hold with no need for grips and they glide really smoothly over the strings. No wear on the pick so far, a pick to last a lifetime!

Super comfortable and great sounding picks to play!

  7. Nice pick! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 3rd Jun 2015

I'm trying several "high end" picks and so far this has been the most impressive. Glides through the strings and seems to make a real difference. Not quite sure why the heavier gauges jump up so much in price...

  8. THE Dunlop Jazz III replacement! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 23rd Mar 2015

This is the best pick material I've ever played. No need to search any further, this is the one for me. I have a bunch of these in my collection and I'm slowly increasing the number so I'll never have to go without. :)

I gave one of these to Eric Johnson (yes, THE EJ) and he loved it. Was hoping to convert him over to BlueChip. Who knows, he may decide to do that at some point. :)

  9. Dependable and indispensible! 5 Star Review

Very warm compared with the Dunlop Jazz III. Amazing I have not lost the first one I bought - even still I bought three more just in case.

  10. The best all-around pick for jazz guitar 5 Star Review

Posted by on 15th May 2014

Like many of the other reviewers, I've tried lots of picks made by boutique and mainstream companies. I've even tried a few of the smaller and larger BlueChip jazz picks and this is the best one for me. It has just the right balance of warmth, clarity, and speed. It's just big enough so that it doesn't make clicking noises when it hits the strings, but it's also small enough to enable me to forget that I'm holding a pick, so I can play fast and really hear the notes.

The price isn't that bad since I often spend $30 on high quality flatwound strings that won't last nearly as long as this pick.
