Product Description
The TP is our classic triangular pick in a 48/1000 of an inch thickness(1.22mm). The TP is the same size as the TPR, but has slightly sharper corners. All of our picks are professionally machined, hand beveled, and laser etched.
Quarters, Nickels and Dimes, if included in the pictures, are for size reference only. They are not etched on the picks or included with the sale. To use this reference, please place a coin on your current non-Bluechip pick and then compare to the pictures of our picks with coins on top of them. This will help you choose the pick that is closest to your current favorite size and shape.

Nice fit for someone transitioning from fingerpicking to flat picking

In my learning to flat pick, I ordered a few different sizes to see what pick is the most comfortable for me, including the sound I like from the pick. The TP48 feels the most comfortable and produces a sound I like on my Collings OM2H (Indian rosewood back/sides, sitka spruce top, Adirondack bracing, no-tongue brace).

Expensive but High Quality

These feel better in the hand than other picks I’ve used and they glide over the strings easier. It’s a subtle difference but once you play with one for awhile you likely won’t want to play with any other kind of pick anymore when these are in reach somewhere. Haven’t had mine long but I’ve been putting in a lot of hours trying to get my flatpicking up to speed lately and this one shows no wear after a month of abuse which is great compared to the one or two days it takes me to destroy a pick made of cheap plastic. If you have heavy hands and can hang onto your picks then these things will end up being cheaper in the long run. Highly recommend and will be ordering another dozen or so in the near future.

I have 3 Bluechips a TD45, TP48, and a TP1R40, and I have to say my favorite is the TP48, it plays so smooth and the tone you get with these picks is so much better, not to mention the durability I’ve played my TD45 for 2 years and it’s the same as it was when I got it.

Great, but better than Clayton or Golden Gate

Like many folk-bluegrass guitarists I always look for the best picks. Will any magically allow me to play faster and more accurately. Blue Chip is the brand that always comes up as the best. And it does help to learn that Billy Strings uses them, even if none of us come within a mile of his level of playing. But frankly, he sold it for me. So, I got one. Over $40: is it worth it? Well it does feel great in the hand: just the right flexing and size. Plays well, and moves over the steel strings of my Collings OM3 just right. But it is not discernably different from others I have, especially the Clayton 1.26 mm, and the Golden Gate X Stiff, which needs slightly more pressure. And when you order these you get 12 in a pack for ca 10-15 bucks. Blue Chip is on the large size and the smaller ProPlec 1.5 mm might make smaller fingers happier. But still the Blue Chip is reall good. So at least you are not losing out on getting one: it feels great, is the right size (for my medium hand) and compares favorably with the others. Maybe even a smidge better but not by much. Buy one and make sure you don't misplace it (unless you don't worry about money).

Great pick - a bit smaller than TAD pick

I've been using Blue Chip TAD picks but wanted to try something smaller. Bryan Sutton uses the TP48 pick, so I decided to give it a try. The TP48 is a great all-around pick, try it if you want something smaller than the TAD.

It's like it's glued to my fingers, doesn't slip around in my grip, great help while cross picking and don't think I've ever dropped one.

I’ve been playing about 15 years as a homeboy and tried many different picks. I am newish to bluegrass so that’s when this brand got on my radar. This is my second Bluechip and I believe I’ve found what suits me best at the moment. The size, shape and thickness all seem to be just about perfect for me and my application (bluegrass/rock). This pick has definitely help me increase my speed as well as sounds fantastic. For my latest order they also included a really cool leather pick holder with their logo embossed in gold on one side. Very cool! Highly recommend

Have been using a BlueChip CT-55 for years and wanted something a little different. The TP-48 is what I was looking for! It's great--not as heavy as the CT-55, but still enough to get a good sound out of my F-5 mandolin.
