  1. FINALLY!!! A pick that works! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 21st Mar 2014

And feels the same in your hand ALL and EVERY time! I'm a professional musician and practice 8, 12 and sometimes 15 hours per day when our band isn't working so I go/WENT through a lot of picks in a short time. I've only been using this pick a week now but it has many long hours on it and still isn't showing one bit of ware! Not even a scratch! I also like how it's tackiness doesn't allow it to slip or turn while playing, and the woody sound it produces is amazing! KUDOS to Blue Chip for a REAL pick! You guys rock!!! Now I've gotta order more!

  2. "almost" worth its money 4 Star Review

Posted by on 17th Mar 2014

ok ... could be a little cheaper, and so only 4 stars ... i´ve been playing jim dunlop 2.00 mm for a long time. to me the TD 80 feels and sounds very similar, but, in my opinion: quite a little better. i am professional musician, so i dont care about money for a thing that i have to hold in my hands for hours every day and that inflects my sound in a positive way. great product.

  3. Flatpicking Gold! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 4th Feb 2014

I received my TD 80 and I tell you what...what seems to be a little pricey for a pick becomes the most invaluable tool for the flat picker, this thing has a great "woody" attack and with a little picking hand manipulation you can really get your top driving for those rhythm parts. I even use it on my electric guitars. Fastest pick on the market hands down! You will wonder why you didn't invest in one earlier.

  4. I'm a believer! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 6th Dec 2013

I've been using Dunlop Delrin 2.0mm picks for at least 12 years now (all 4 years in music school included), but this is all I plan on using from now on. The TD80 is the exact size, shape, and thickness of the Dunlops I was used to. So it felt really comfortable right away. But the TONE! I honestly noticed a huge difference. When I A/B'd my old Dunlop and the new Blue Chip, the difference in tone was like night and day. Now all I hear from the old pick is cheap plastic. This new material is almost an instrument unto itself. On top of that, I love how it feels when I'm playing -- the material is so smooth, and it doesn't appear to wear down (it's been 4 months since I received it). Who cares if they're more expensive? I don't lose picks very often, and these make such a big difference in tone and feel that they are a good investment. I will definitely be buying some more of these!

  5. I'm not knocking Blue Chip, but... 2 Star Review

Posted by on 1st Apr 2013

I've been playing with this pick for a few days now and comparing it with the old Dunlop 2.0mm I played with previously and honestly, it doesn't get half the tone the Dunlop does. The Blue Chip feels way better, and I could probably play a bit faster with it, but it just sounds wispy, and airy. I'm not going to sacrifice that much tone to play a few clicks faster. I can't even blame it on the guitar being garbage. It's an '06 Martin HD-28, and it's a real cannon. Don't make my mistake expect to have Grant Gordy's tone just 'cause you bought an expensive pick. I'll probably try another shape, and thickness before I knock Blue Chip for good though.

  6. Do I Really Want To Spend This Much On A Pick? 5 Star Review

Posted by on 8th Oct 2012

The pick doesn't turn in my fingers when I'm playing - at all. I actually have to credit the pick with helping to smooth out my picking significantly and probably increasing my speed. The tone I get is great and it doesn't "click" against the strings.
I don't know what it takes to research the materials and craft a pick that can do all of this, but it's obvious to me that the people at Blue Chip have figured it out.
I bought the best guitar I could afford. I get the best strings for the type of playing and the tone I like. It would be foolish for me to compromise on the price of the pick if it really makes a difference -- and I've found out that it does.
