TAD40-3R: a terrific pick for electric guitar

Posted by Richard Defendorf on 13th Dec 2019

I prefer the 40-3R for electric guitar, the 60-3R for mandolin and acoustic guitar strung with mediums. Both picks are fast and easy to grip.

    Great pick

Larger than most I've used. Easy to hold and control. I wasn't sure I was going to like it.

fantastic pick but need time and practice to properly master it

Posted by Paul Rodriguez on 30th Oct 2018

Hi, I play bluegrass. For 35 years I used a standard extra heavy Fender pick. The TAD40-3R is another world, more volume, tone, expressiveness. But I had to change my right hand position to play this pick at its best, and I have not completely succeeded so far (2 weeks). But it is worth the change !

    A softer sound

Posted by Thomas Baumgartel on 24th Jul 2018

The rounded edge of this pick gives my mandolin a softer sound and seems good for slower melodies. Usually I prefer a sharper point, but when a tune calls for this kind of sound, this is one great pick.

    Great custom job

I actually asked if they could make this pick as a 35 instead of a 40, and was told it would be no problem. A few days later, I had the pick in my hand as promised. It's nice having two picks of similar shape but different gauges to choose between.

$35 pick is no better than a $.25 Fender pick.

More expensive does not always mean better. Lesson learned.

    Not a bad pick

Posted by George Manns on 30th Mar 2018

I use a wide variety of picks on 5 different guitars, I also change it up according to the speed I'm playing. I have 4 BlueChips and I'm sure I will have a couple more in the future.I really enjoy them for faster flat picking, they really stick to your fingers and produce a quality tone. They work for me, I would like to see some coupons or discounts after purchasing 4. With all that said if you have a quality instrument you should be able pick it with a Opossums tail bone and get a decent sound.

    Excellent Consistent Quality

Posted by Don Denison on 28th Jan 2018

This is the best pick I have ever used, there is less vacation between this pick than the differences between different tortoise shell picks. This pick is an excellent replacement for the tortoise shell pick I have used since 1955. I needed to slightly round the points and retire the bevel, but this was easy after having worked over so many tortoise shell picks over the years. The only criticism I have is that because of the color the pick is easy to set down and lose, a brighter color or more obvious margins on the pick would be helpful, also a lighter color would help in making it easier to locate. Excellent, consistent picks, at last a replacement for tortoise shell!

    Mando/Guitar

Posted by Paul Boyd on 5th Oct 2017

Started with the TAD 40 then ordered a TAD 40 3R for my mando, The wife tried the 3R and will not give it back! I may try the 50 3R for my mando these picks are a little spendy to experiment with but are the best we have used.
