Product Description

This version of the TPR was custom created for Doyle Lawson. We worked with him to create pick to his exact needs. This is the exact pick that Doyle Lawson is currently using. This TPR is our classic TP pick with corners that are slightly round in a 45/1000th of an inch(1.12mm) thickness.  Our picks are all precision machined and hand beveled for the highest quality.

Quarters, Nickels and Dimes, if included in the pictures, are for size reference only. They are not etched on the picks or included with the sale. To use this reference, please place a coin on your current non-Bluechip pick and then compare to the pictures of our picks with coins on top of them. This will help you choose the pick that is closest to your current favorite size and shape.

  1. Nice and Warm 5 Star Review

I like it better than my tortoise shell. I'm not a Blue Grasser, but I love the warm even sound.

  2. Awesome Pick! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 23rd Aug 2013

This pick has really improved my speed and I don't have to worry about dropping it as much either. The shape is just perfect, it fits snugly in the 1st joint of my index finger and WON'T move around. Fantastic job guys, you've designed another winner.

  3. You just play better! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 29th May 2013

I play better, my students play better, the pick sticks and stays where it's
supposed be,the sound is clean and clear-I tell you these picks are truly
the best I have ever used. Both the guitar and mandolin sound better than
    they ever have.

  4. I love this pick- Eliminated vibration to my thumb joint 5 Star Review

Posted by on 28th Mar 2013

I purchased the TPR45 pick in the hopes of eliminating pick noise and improved tone. I would say there were some gains in these areas the unexpected and EXTREMELY welcomed benefit is the elimination of vibration transmitted to my thumb joint. I have been playing for many years with cheap picks and never noticed it until I purchased the BC pick. I have joint stiffness and sometimes discomfort. I'm confident the BC pick will help eliminate these symptoms. THANKS BC!

  5. The Perfect Thickness 5 Star Review

Posted by on 14th Feb 2013

For 4 years I have been using the same 40 for guitar, and a 50 for mandolin. Not quite thick enough, not quite thin enough. FINALLY, a 45! Just right for optimum tone. Get the speed bevel for sure. (I also have a BC thumbpick for banjo).
These are the smoothest, fastest, longest-lasting picks ever. I've tried 'em all, and after 50 years of playing--I can say these are the best.

  6. Pick stays put 5 Star Review

Posted by on 27th Dec 2012

This pick doesn't turn in your grip. Stays put where you want it. Great sound, slides of the strings so nicely.

  7. Best pick-Ever! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 16th Dec 2012

I've been playing guitar and mandolin professionally for over 50 years and have played with more picks than I want to admit to---My search is over. The Blue Chip pick is like coming home to a warm house--The sound is warm,it hugs my fingers, tickles my strings and brings a smile to my face.I'm proud to be a part of the Blue Chip family.

  8. A nice combination 5 Star Review

I love this pick. The weight and thickness make it warm and smooth; it's still flexible enough to be comfortable and accurate at high speed. Durability is phenomenal.

  9. Great pick with in-between thickness. 5 Star Review

Posted by on 15th Jun 2012

Over the past years I have been using several Blue Chip picks. Some are best for certain styles and instruments. This TPR 45 is a great thickness and fits my playing better than a 40 or a 50. I'd like to see more styles in this 45 thickness. It's smooth, fast, quiet on the strings and sweet sounding. Well worth the price of admission.

  10. Clean and sweet 5 Star Review

Posted by on 21st May 2012

I've been using the BlueChip - TPR and JD Crowe thumb pick - for a couple years now. Great picks. They don't hang with age and what a tone. Just got another TPR after unfortunately losing the one I had. The Crowe thumb pick has seen a lot of use on stainless banjo strings and is virtually still as good as new. So what if you can buy the good plastic ones for a buck or so. Get a BlueChip and you'll hear and feel the difference immediately.
