  1. TD50 - Fast & Bouncy! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 25th Feb 2020

$35 is more than my first guitar cost, and seemed a lot for a pick until I looked around my music room. After playing a friend’s TD50, I ordered one and was pleased that it, like his, sounded brighter than any of my heavy picks, and felt faster off the strings than my usual .73 yellow Tortex (Tortexes? Torti?) picks.
Finally, firmness & brightness in one pick! Fast & bouncy!
Now, where did I leave it?

  2. Best of the Best 5 Star Review

Posted by on 7th Jan 2020

I have been playing acoustic and electric guitar for over 40 years and have tried almost every pick available. I tried my first BlueChip pick several years ago and was immediately impressed by its superior performance. These picks glide effortlessly across the strings, yet they have a very slight tacky feel in contact with fingers making them very easy to hold without slipping or rotating. They also sound better than any else I have tried. I still own and use the original TD 40 I bought several years ago - these picks wear very slowly over time. - they seem to last forever. I recently started using the heavier gauge TD 50 and am really pleased with it. Also, these guys are the best in terms of customer service. Highly recommended.

  3. N o Bounce 5 Star Review

Posted by on 7th Jan 2020

I was doubtful about how good it would be but hey, I needed a Christmas present for myself! First thing I noticed was no bounce. I find a lot of picks bounce me off the strings. Another picker described the pick like this “the pick stays with me”. I thought I was crazy describing my problem but he knew exactly what I meant when talking about flatpicking.

Another thing I liked was very little pick noise. the picks are beveled and highly polished so I believe that is the key. Some picks sound like a jailbird trying to file his way out of prison!

  4. Worth every penny 5 Star Review

Posted by on 30th Dec 2019

I discovered these at a Blue Grass Festival in Raleigh a couple of years ago. I couldn't imagine a pick being worth $35, but decided to splurge and find out. I'm so glad i did. These minimize pick noise on the string, produce a warm but well articulated tone, and are oh so smooth and fast. The best $35 an acoustic guitar player could spend !

  5. Satisfied 5 Star Review

Posted by on 14th Dec 2019

I’ve had two for 5 years. No noticeable wear. I had trouble gripping picks. Not these. I’ll periodically compare these to other picks and I still think these are the best sounding and most comfortable pick I’ve found. I use them with my D-28 and my Telecaster. The 50 is the perfect thickness for me - not too thick but definitely substantial. Thanks for making my forever pick!

  6. Blue Chip pick TD50 3 Star Review

Posted by on 4th Oct 2019

I tried very hard to justify the price to the performance I can not do
so. I have been using Dunlop Primetone and still using. I have framed the blue chip as bad purchase. Those thinking of making a purchase the Blue Chip picks should try the primetone first.

  7. You gotta love the sound 5 Star Review

Posted by on 30th Jul 2019

Just love the way it's already bevelled. Makes my stroke a little smoother, while not losing that pitchy sound. To me it's perfect for different styles of playing. In my case flatpickin' bluegrass tunes....

  8. I tone I didn't know existed 5 Star Review

Posted by on 22nd May 2019

I hesitated to buy this product, thought it might be all hype, after 30 years as a session guitarist I've tried them or what I thought was all of them until this.
These picks are a game changer. For the first time, I could actually hear the the real tone of my Martin's, the true sound and character of the instruments. My tone, dexterity and speed improved. Can't and won't use anything else now. BlueChip is a game changer!! Thank you for an amazing product!

  9. Bombproof 5 Star Review

Posted by on 2nd Apr 2019

The TD50 is resistant to chips and notches from my playing style. It has a pleasant contact noise: not too crisp or trebly and not too dead: not unlike some other brand’s extra heavy picks, but with a nicer feel.
The edge bevel is spot on.
Given how much people spend on amps, cables and guitars, it seems silly not to be choosy about the bit that communicates your intentions to the instrument.
Despite my best efforts, I still can’t play like Julian Lage, so maybe they sold me a dud!

  10. I like my Blue Chip picks BIG 4 Star Review

Posted by on 28th Mar 2019

I've currently have a TP50-1R, TP60-1R, and a CT55. I had a TD50 and even though I've always used teardrop shaped picks in the past, for some reason the material Blue Chip uses and the way it interacts with the string makes me prefer the larger size picks and that preference now allows me greater accuracy when alternate picking without posting. I gave all 3 types of picks I have now 5 stars (see those reviews if you're interested) and I only gave the TD50 4 stars, not because I didn't love it, but just because I love the other ones more. Blue Chip has a really great exchange policy but if you are used to teardrop shaped picks you might want to start out with the larger sized ones. There's something about the way the pick interacts with the string that lets you get away with a larger pick that actually (at least for me) INCREASES the subjective feeling of accuracy I get with them.
