    why 4 and not 5

Posted by Unknown on 10th Sep 2025

it's what you already know, the cost of the pick. i notice a difference in the way it sounds and plays, and if i were a rich man i'd buy a bunch with different thicknesses, alas, i'm not -- which means that i'm always worried that i'm going to lose it. does it allow my guitar to breath and sound better, seems so. i really have gone to playing with the pick i purchased all the time. one draw back, it does get a little slick when your fingers get sweaty. overall, i'd buy it again, i don't regret my purchase at all!

    Best pick ever

Best pick ever. Has a slightly stickiness that prevents movement that I like . I would love one to be slightly larger but same shape

    Fast and smooth!

I never expected a flat pick to make such an improvement in my sound and playing experience! The BlueChip TD 40 is a brilliant replacement for my previous vinyl pick choices. It feels rigid enough to be precise, and just flexible enough to keep the 'feel' of the string tension under my control.

I rated this pick a 5 star only because 10 wasn’t an option.

I purchased the YD-40 on a whim, but it is hard to describe it honestly is the best pick I have ever used hands down it’s like playing a new guitar every time I pick one of mine up. I am used to purchasing gimmicky guitar products but this is the real McCoy if you are wondering about the price just buy it, this pick will not disappoint.

TD 40 provides good articulation for mandolin

Posted by kenny on 18th Aug 2025

Decided to try the TD 40 instead of the TP 48 on the mandolin. I seem to get better articulation and speed with the TD 40. Both are great picks, but I’m digging the new benefits of the TD 40.

    New Favorite Standard Format Pick

Posted by Randy S. on 13th Aug 2025

I have had a Fender pick for ~40 years. I only play it at home for special occasions. I now have a new favorite standard pick with the TD40. I also bought a CT55 and TAD40 that I use for Mandolin (also reviewed). The TD40 is perfect for electric guitar. The feel is fantastic and the standard format allows for more variety of pick strokes. Again Great Pick - worth the money if you're serious.

You Can Tell The Difference Blindfolded

Posted by Nort Harrison on 17th Jul 2025

I bought two of these picks, one for my Collings D2H and one for my McPhearson Carbon Touring guitar. They seem easier to hold on to and have a pleasant attack on the strings and a solid tone; not brassy or muted…just right. I did a test where my wife chose two other picks I use and challenged me to determine which was the Blue Chip pick. I was not allowed to see the picks as I played my guitar. I was able to eliminate one pick quickly and then with a little more concentration, I successfully chose the Blue Chip. The pick does make a difference! Recommended for the intermediate to advanced player and for certain order the pocket so you don’t lose the pick!

    disappears in your hand

Posted by zack on 17th Jul 2025

I absolutely love these BlueChip picks. I don’t play gigs or travel, so my picks always go right back in the same spot after I play, and these are hands-down the best I’ve ever used. I honestly can’t imagine going back to anything else. Even though a lot of players use these for acoustic or cleaner styles, I play a lot of hard rock and metal, and this pick works amazingly well. It glides with almost no string noise, but I can still dig in and pull out an Adam Jones-style scream when I need it. It’s hard to explain, but something about the feel just makes it disappear in your hand. It doesn’t fight you or get in the way. it just becomes part of your playing, like an extension of your fingers. I love it. I love it. I love it.

    The new tortoise shell

Posted by David Takahashi on 8th Jul 2025

Mandolin players knew about the virtues of tortoise shell picks...we would wander into music stores and casually ask if they had any tortoise shell picks, and if we were lucky, the answer would be a YES! Those days are gone. But Blue Chip has discovered a more humane alternative and has made them available. Now, you can ask if they have any tortoise shell, and if not, if they have any Blue Chip picks. Life is good!
