Product Description
The TD is a standard teardrop shape pick with two rounded corners and one sharper playing corner. This is a TD in a 40/1000 of an inch(1.00mm) thickness. All of our picks a professionally machined, hand beveled, and laser etched.
Quarters, Nickels and Dimes, if included in the pictures, are for size reference only. They are not etched on the picks or included with the sale. To use this reference, please place a coin on your current non-Bluechip pick and then compare to the pictures of our picks with coins on top of them. This will help you choose the pick that is closest to your current favorite size and shape.

I have finally found THE pick !!!

I've owned very few tortoise shell picks. With most of us - that is now a thing of the past. I'm sure many of us have very fond "pick" memories. I had a 3 cornered tortoise shell that I still miss and that was 20 years ago ! I had tried a Blue Chip only once before and I gave it away. Recently, I looked at the specs and sizes very carefully for myself. When I saw the speed bevel -- I decided to give Blue Chip Picks another try ! I must say, without hesitation, my TD 40 is an excellent pick ! I LOVE it ! I have finally found THE pick !!!

I've previously usel thinner versions of picks. After Trying the 35 I thought I'd go up one gauge and I am more than satisfied feels great and sounds good.

I've been using the same TD45 for the past 5 years (several hours of playing each day) and it is still just as great as day 1. It grabs that little extra bit of tone out of every instrument it touches. I can't see myself using anything else. Blue chip for life.

Feeling stuck between the TD-40, which I love for its bright, snappy sound, and the TD-50, which I love for its better control, I asked the guys at BC if they'd make me a TD-45, and they did! It turned out to be the exact pick I've always looked for. Fantastic!

No friction pick

It is remarkable that this pick does not hang up on the guitar strings like other picks seem to do. Also, the pick does not turn in my fingers. I am very careful with this pick - I don't want to lose it.

The big question: is the change in playability worth the expense?
In first holding the pick, I couldn't help but feel disapointed. Expecting some magic adhesion to my fingers, it simply just felt like a pick
To my surprise, within a few seconds of feeling the material, I felt the "tacky stickiness" that many have written about, but that hardly describes it. It feels organic, like a part of your body that's always been there, especially after its warmed up
The pick is beveled right to that perfectly worn-in sweet spot and polished so buttery smooth that it glides through the strings from soft melodic picking all the way to chord thrashing rhythms with no scrape noise
The pick brings out a more open and warm tone from the guitar whereas a conventional plastic pick sounds like it's played through a tin can in comparison. The material feels as if it absorbs the audible click that conventional plastic picks make, but lets the strings richly ring out.
The combination of all the factors leads to a comfortable play that truly makes you forget the pick is even there. Playing is effortless and it brings out the best sound qualities from the instrument. In the end, I got lost in playing and didn't want to put it down.
After I'd played for some time, I decided to give my old picks a try and they just left a bad taste in my mouth. They feel cheap and awkward to hold compared to the BlueChip, and the pick noise felt terrible.
The combination of playability and sound quality that the BlueChip brings to the table is enough to justify the material's expense for the discerning musician. The fact that the material is known to take heavy use with little-to no-wear just sweetens the deal.

Fast, accurate, and nice-sounding. Great clarity without the "clack" or the icepick that some other materials can produce. Never had a real tortoise shell, but I have tried other picks made of other materials. This is the best I've found so far. Wear is pretty slow, too. I don't think it's quite as slow as some say, but then technique, attack, and genre of music matter. I'm gigging in a balls-out rock band, and I'm the only guitarist. I'm not overly hamfisted, but I would call myself gentle, either. I'd say I got a solid year out of one pick before I could really notice significant wear ... and even then, it's still totally playable and useable. I really dig this pick, and have bought 3 of them so far. I settled on this model after having tried a few other offerings from them. I like this one best, and I appreciate the no-hassle exchange policy they have. Good stuff. Expensive, yes. But totally worth it, in my opinion. I'd buy more if they cost less, though, that's for sure.

Most Likely The Best Pick I Will Ever Find

This is without a doubt the best pick I have ever used and most likely the best pick I will ever find. The sound that it helps produce is so much better than with other picks I have used or tried. I have never used real tortoise shell but I can't imagine that it would be any better, and you don't have to constantly maintain the Blue Chip as you would a tortoise shell pick. A big factor in my delight with this pick is the way it sticks in your fingers but slides so very well off of the strings. I have always had a problem with other picks spinning in my fingers as I played but with the Blue Chip, I don't experience that. I would one day like to try a TP, that may be the only reason I might switch from or use another pick.

To put it simply, I love these picks. I've been using the TD40 on my Martin dreadnaught and the sound, the feel and the durability are first class. Expensive but for me worth the $ for a pick that will presumably last for years. I've been using the TD40 for many months now and there is not a sign of degradation.
