Product Description
This is the TAD pick in 80/1000 of an inch(2.0mm) thickness. It is shaped identically to the TP, but is slightly larger. All BlueChip Picks are professionally machined, laser engraved, and hand beveled.
Quarters, Nickels and Dimes, if included in the pictures, are for size reference only. They are not etched on the picks or included with the sale. To use this reference, please place a coin on your current non-Bluechip pick and then compare to the pictures of our picks with coins on top of them. This will help you choose the pick that is closest to your current favorite size and shape.

Thumbpick Version

I am a dobro player and having used the Blue Chip reso thumbpick for years, I was looking for something with a little more punch and substance. On the recommendation of another player, I contacted the folks at Blue Chip about getting one of these TAD80 flatpicks custom made into a thumbpick. This pick is thicker than the reso version thumbpicks and feels and sounds great. It gave me just what I was looking for. I opted for the Russ Carson mode thumbpick because the shape and size reminded of the old Golden Gate thumbpicks I used for years before stumbling onto Blue Chip years ago. Blue Chip is a fantastic company with amazing customer service making incredible products for musicians of all types.

I LOVE this pick. I used to be a little pick guy, but I tried the TAD 60 and liked it, thought maybe a little fatter would make me happy and - VOILA! This pick is awesome. Scares the heck outta me to love a $50 pick so much, but I do.

I love all of Blue Chip picks, but for me -- I've found my best fit in the TAD80. Great size all around and sounds unbelievable for flat picking.

I play bluegrass with this TAD 80 and Irish with a TAD 40. I have also rounded a corner on both for speed and playability to suit my needs. These are the best best I have found and I’ve tried a lot. There’s something about the material that makes these picks glide over the strings with greater ease and speed. Love them!!

Blue Chips truly are amazing... I liked them the first time a buddy said, "Here try this." The tone improvement over the cheap picks I had been using was immediately noticeable. However, after ordering one and playing it for a few weeks, I've realized how much more fluid my right hand is with a Blue Chip in it. I had used other expensive picks before, such as Wegen, and never really liked or bought into the hype. However, Blue Chip has made a believer out of me.

Can't believe the difference this pick makes. My playing is so much more accurate and the tone is much better. I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't try it out myself. Expensive, yes, but worth the price. This is a must have!

This is without a doubt the best pick I've ever used! It really does make a difference. The tone was instantly better. The pick feels really good and secure and has great smoothness almost like glass gliding over the strings. It has improved my accuracy as well. I will be buying more. The price is definitely worth it.

I use this pick to thicken-up the sound on my Eastman mandolin. I used to use the wegan 2mm round pick. This pick, after switching from round to triangle, has helped me tremendously. It is crisp, fast, and still thick and somewhat dark sounding. But best of all is the feel in your hand and on the strings. When i don't get in my own way, it positively glides across the strings. My favorite thing is that it stays put. I used to sand picks or buy picks with holes in them in order to not have the pick slide around while performing and sweating. No more. These just stick to you somehow. Framkly, Bluechips seem to allow me do do things I can't do with other picks. It's not hype! I wish it was... i have lost two of these picks:) Although i resisted, I had to buy a third replacement. It killed me, but it killed me more not to have this pick.
