Product Description

This is the TAD pick in 40/1000 of an inch(1.0mm) thickness. It is shaped identically to the TP, but is slightly larger. All BlueChip Picks are professionally machined, laser engraved, and hand beveled.

Quarters, Nickels and Dimes, if included in the pictures, are for size reference only. They are not etched on the picks or included with the sale. To use this reference, please place a coin on your current non-Bluechip pick and then compare to the pictures of our picks with coins on top of them. This will help you choose the pick that is closest to your current favorite size and shape.

  1. Great Tone Anyone? 5 Star Review

Posted by on 23rd May 2014

The TAD 40 has that crisp clear '"schwing" when you strum that a lighter gauge pick gives. There are no dents or nicks that develop which slows down the smoothness of the string contact. Should last a long time. But, is one pick worth $35.00? Yes! However, to avoid extreme mental anguish, keep close tabs on your Blue Chip pick. Don't lose it! This TAD 40 I purchased was a replacement for one that I left in a motel in Sedalia, MO. Ouch! I'm still not over that!

It is up to all the high standards what ai have come to expect over the years since I bought my first one 5 or 6 years ago. Thanks.

  3. Off to a good start! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 14th Apr 2014

I have been playing mandolin for a little over a month now. When I bought my mandolin at the music store, they gave me a couple of picks that "should work". My music teacher let me try his TAD40 during one lesson and I couldn't get home fast enough to order it! Customer service from Blue Chip picks was absolutely outstanding. I think I've found the pick I will use the rest of my life! Many thanks!

  4. TAD-40 5 Star Review

One of the best picks I have ever used. I am using with my Eastman MD 604 with a L. R. Baggs Radius pickup into a Marshall AS50D amp. A very nice bright sound that really punches through. The pick has a right hand speed bevel, slips off the strings very nice. Easy to pick fast.

  5. Custom order 5 Star Review

Ordered this in a 45 instead of the 40 to use on mandolin. Exactly what I was needing, shipped and arrived quickly following order. Great folks to work with.

  6. TAD-40 5 Star Review

This was the first Blue-Chip I ever experienced, and now I have a TAD40 and a TAD50 in every one of my Dreadnought pick-boxes. I favour the TAD40 for solo and small combo playing, and the TAD50 for more strident playing with my bluegrass band.
This last one was a gift for my old mando/dobro picking pal who recently bought a great Martin and sampled my Blue-Chips. He was won over so I got one for him.

I wish I had purchased the smaller version. I can't believe the price, but I did purchase it and I like it.

  8. Greatest pick ever 5 Star Review

This pick sticks to your fingers and slides through your strings... Amazing. This is my third one to buy. I got one for Christmas last year and bought another to have with my other guitar. I bought my son one this year.

  9. LOVE LOVE LOVE this pick 5 Star Review

Posted by on 24th Sep 2013

I have been looking for "the" pick for as long as I've been picking. I've had it narrowed down for a few years, but have been interested in trying the BlueChip. I finally decided to bite the bullet and give it a try. I fell in love immediately. It feels great in my hand, the tone is nice and warm, and it just seems to glide off of the strings. Love love love this pick.

Once you play with a Blue Chip Pick, you will understand why everyone who use a Blue Chip Pick, loves them. You get what you pay for and Blue Chip Picks are worth the money.
