Product Description

This is the TAD pick in 40/1000 of an inch(1.0mm) thickness. It is shaped identically to the TP, but is slightly larger. All BlueChip Picks are professionally machined, laser engraved, and hand beveled.

Quarters, Nickels and Dimes, if included in the pictures, are for size reference only. They are not etched on the picks or included with the sale. To use this reference, please place a coin on your current non-Bluechip pick and then compare to the pictures of our picks with coins on top of them. This will help you choose the pick that is closest to your current favorite size and shape.

  1. Perfect pick? 4 Star Review

Posted by on 26th Jan 2018

I started using Blue Chips a couple years ago. Now I have four of them. The search, though, never ends. Picks are the poor man's nirvana and search I will continue, but Blue Chips sets the bar incredibly high.

  2. Good control and longevity 5 Star Review

Posted by on 23rd Jan 2018

I have been using using TP40 andTAD40's for MANY years with excellent tonal and playing control and negligible wear. They are the best picks I have ever found for Mandolin, Cittern etc.. All my student now use these also, just by comparing how their instrument sound with these pick versus any other types they have tried.

One improvement I would highly recommend is to have a permanent 1/4 diameter White dot inscribed at the center of both sides. If you have ever dropped a $35 dollar pick on dirt or on stage or a dancefloor, and tried to find it, then having a high contrast reflective large dot is essential to finding it.

The TAD - 40 works great on mandolin and guitar. I tend to use this on guitar. I just love these picks!!

Blue chip picks are by far the best around !!

  6. Simply the best pick 5 Star Review

Posted by on 18th Dec 2017

I have been exclusively using Blue Chip picks for several years. Since starting to use the TAD 40 I have given away most of my other high-end picks including a tortoise pick and several Wegen picks. I tell my students about Blue Chips picks and even give them as gifts because I know they are appreciated and bring out the best tone in my instruments.

  7. Bright and slim 5 Star Review

I tried this as an alternative to the TAD50. I like it better for playing with light strings. The sound is bright and it's easy to pick melodies.

  8. Clean sound and deeper tone in higher octaves. 5 Star Review

Posted by on 20th Sep 2017

With TAD-40 the sound of my mandolin, a custom-made round-shaped masterpiece, is cleaner. Also, it helps to create deeper tone in higher octaves. It's a real pleasure to play with TAD-40.

  9. Ok I'm convinced, yes it is best! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 7th Sep 2017

I had to see for myself and am I glad I did. Every bit as good as everyone is saying. I'm already in love with the TAD 40 and will happily buy more in the near future. The tone is superb and really does make a noticeable difference but what I'm really impressed with is how well it grips to your fingers. It's smooth to the touch but really just grips and hangs on no matter how light or hard I strum! Well done Blue Chip, well done!

  10. glad I've got one 5 Star Review

Posted by on 22nd Aug 2017

The blue chip pick is something I can't do without. My last pick split on me and I ordered a new one. It is expensive enough but I had to pay half the price again in duty. Next one I buy won't be online.

    Love the pick though
