  1. An Experiment ... that has gone very well 4 Star Review

Posted by on 20th Nov 2024

I am a bass player. I normally use my fingers to play, but I am developing repetitive motion symptoms, and have started playing with a pick for part of my playing time. I saw an interview with Steve Swallow who recommended BlueChip, and I thought I would give it a try. Very good. But I confess I don't have a lot of background with this and don't have a very extensive history to compare it to. The BlueChip pick definitely sounds better than the other dozen or so varieties I have tried though ... my concern is that I am not used to keeping track of picks and at this per unit cost, I sure hope I don't lose it.

  2. Better late than never 5 Star Review

I find that both the BC Jazz LG 50 and 60 are perfect for my needs.
They feel wonderful in the hand and have this curious grippy characteristic after a short warmup. An interesting non-sticky feel that keeps the pick from shifting unnecessarily. They have a great way of being controllable and have almost no noise. I love the tones I am producing with them both. The 50 is a touch brighter. Using flats on several of my basses certainly will not wear them out anytime soon either. I personalized one of them and it’s a nice offer that Blue Chip provides, plus the sweet complimentary pick case is very cool.

Great Feel!! Right Thickness!! Great Sound on my Electric Guitar.

  4. Thinner Pick + Thick Strings 5 Star Review

Posted by on 20th Jun 2023

I play a custom mixed set of round wound strings on my archtop guitar, 14 up top and 52 down low. I got the bigger 1.25 to improve the pick sound when playing jazz rhythm. Out of curiosity, I experimented with playing some single note with the Big JG 50. At first, the sound wasn't as full as my smaller JG 80 2mm. Then I got used to the pick and noticed that the bigger 1.25 JG 50 made notes up on my high E truly sing out and sustain. I really like the sound and dynamics afforded by the JG 80. Playing with the bigger pick helped me bring out my nuance with the smaller JG80 as well.

  5. A great pick that lasts for ever 5 Star Review

The Large Jazz 50 is a wonderful pick. Smooth action, deep tone and great if you want a rich tone from medium-light strings. It is well worth the investment. I’ll be back for more - though these are picks for life.

  6. Same condition several years later 5 Star Review

Posted by on 10th Feb 2022

A friend of mine gave me one of these picks a few years ago, and I have used it on my acoustics pretty regularly since. The pick is in the exact same condition today as when it was gifted to me. So, I bought a few more, and the condition of my used pick is identical to the new ones. These have a sharp point, which makes them good for picking accurately, and they sound good strumming too. Highly recommend.

  7. Fantastic Acoustic and General Rhythm Pick 5 Star Review

Posted by on 20th Feb 2021

I initially bought this pick for lead playing, but I found it slightly too large for my liking. I ended up buying the Jazz 80, which is the perfect lead pick.

I've found the Jazz LG 50 to be absolutely perfect for playing acoustic guitar and also general rhythm/strumming playing on all guitars. It picks smoothly and deliberately, but gives just enough to feel great. It also shows no signs of wear despite a fair amount of use. I expect it to last a very long time.

  8. Oh so nice 5 Star Review

Posted by on 4th Jan 2021

Discovered BC picks via Justin Guitars as well as Tony's Acoustic Challenge on YouTube. Both promote this pick as top of the line. I went with Justin's specific pick choice b/c there are a myriad of options (overwhelming to a novice like myself).

Immediately felt and heard the difference with the BC pick. Clean sound unlike cheap picks where the attack sounds plastic and distracting.

I applied Picker's Grip to my new pick and really enjoying it.

  10. Expressive and controlled 5 Star Review

Amazing precision-like cooking with a sharp knife. A smidge bigger than I was expecting, but I grew accustomed to it very quickly.
