Product Description
The CT55 is a pick custom designed by Chris Thile for his personal use. It is very similar in size and shape to our TAD line of picks. However it is only manufactured in 55/1000 of an inch(1.4mm) thickness and has a custom bevel per his specifications. This is the exact pick that Chris Thile is currently using. See his thoughts on this pick on our users page.
Quarters, Nickels and Dimes, if included in the pictures, are for size reference only. They are not etched on the picks or included with the sale. To use this reference, please place a coin on your current non-Bluechip pick and then compare to the pictures of our picks with coins on top of them. This will help you choose the pick that is closest to your current favorite size and shape.

The CT55 is an awesome pick. All of the Bluechip picks I have used have been great. The thickness of the CT55 gives the guitar great tone and it stays on my hand and don't move which is a great characteristic of these picks. As long as you don't lose the pick. It will last forever. It is well worth the 35.00

If you're anything like me, the idea of spending $35.00 on a pick seemed more than a little silly. After trying Blue Chip picks, however, I am fully persuaded that they are worth every nickel. If you spend about ten minutes with one, I think it's likely that you'll agree. I've tried a couple and have settled on the CT55 as my go to pick when playing my D-18GE. On the occasions when I use a pick on my 000/OM sized guitars, I prefer the TP 50. These picks are virtually noise free and slide off the string more smoothly than any pick I've ever used. They bring out a nice round tone, and play very fast. I can't recommend these highly enough.

I hope more players find the Blue Chip Pick site. I had never heard of them until a month ago after I read an article from someone that won a BC pick as a door prize and continued to rave on about it. I would have punted on the whole idea of spending $35 on a guitar pick until I read a review reminding us how much fiddlers pay for a good bow. I knew what he was talking about. 30 years ago I paid $350 for a bow!
My point? Basically, ignore the price and start playing better than you ever thought possible. You will most certainly be better now and get improve faster than you ever thought possible.
I'm a Chris Thile fan so I settled on the CT55. I can't imagine anything better. It's fast and accurate. Stick with it for a few days and you will know what I mean.

The sound is the closest thing to a real tortise i have found, yet actually plays smoother with less drag on the strings. Well worth the price.

Recently purchased the CT55 to use with mandolin. This pick feels great in the hand. Plenty large enough and is the right amount of stiffness for me. Pick bites well with no string noise. So many of the other mandolin picks are just to thick for my taste. This one is a winner.

I recently took up mandolin, and have been playing at church. I have played guitar and bass for years, but am new to this instrument. I had trouble with the picks I was used to, shifting in my hand, dropping them, etc. Bought this pick because I love Chris Thile's music, honestly.
Have already used it in a worship service, and have to say it was amazing. I love it.
I just know if I lose it (heaven forbid), I would definitely get another.

My son talked me out of my first CT 55, believe me, he is the only one I would have given it up to. I haved used tortoise shell for the last 30+ years but I prefer the smoothness of the Blue Chip on the strings and the consistency of the edges.

If you only ever buy one more pick, it needs to be this one. I wouldn't have believed the sound and playability difference it could make for me. Crisp clean sounds on open and fretted notes alike and seems to make my playing easier. Pray I never lose it and many thanks to the Goins.

I used to have several different picks for my guitars that seemd to work best, each with a different one
now I was looking for a mandopick on the web as I had tested everysingleone that I could lay may hands on
never got quiet happy - this thing changed it all...
probably will be my number one guitar plec from now on, too
