The CT55 is a pick custom designed by Chris Thile for his personal use. It is very similar in size and shape to our TAD line of picks. However it is only manufactured in 55/1000 of an inch(1.4mm) thickness and has a custom bevel per his specifications. This is the exact pick that Chris Thile is currently using. See his thoughts on this pick on our users page.
Quarters, Nickels and Dimes, if included in the pictures, are for size reference only. They are not etched on the picks or included with the sale. To use this reference, please place a coin on your current non-Bluechip pick and then compare to the pictures of our picks with coins on top of them. This will help you choose the pick that is closest to your current favorite size and shape.

This pick immediately improved my playing ability and improved my tone so much I thought I'd died and went to heaven. I used to lose picks all the time, not anymore at thirty bucks a go. Bottom line, their worth it. Recommended.

I've been playing on the BlueChip Jazz picks for electric guitar for a while, and when I purchased my Mandolin it only made sense to pick up one of their Mandolin picks. I was a little worried the size difference would throw me off but I should have known better...simply fantastic...everything these guys make is simply top notch and sounds fantastic....keep it up guys :-) My only request would be to offer a bulk discount if anyone wanted to but multiple picks at one time.

I did`nt really think a pick could have such an effect in the sound, and my overall playing. Been playing for 39 years and gig often, these picks are worth every penny. I bought one to try and ended up buying four more so I will not be without.

I looked askance at the person who recommended this $30 pick (I mean really? I pay a buck!) But then I got one with a new mando and never looked back. I have purchased 5 of these now, one for each instrument. It has a "sound" quality that I like, and it's big enough to hold (and symmetrical, so any angle). And it supposedly never wears out.
My biggest fear is loaning it to someone...

I'm not a fast picking, red hot guitar/mandolin player but I do have some history. I really do like my Blue Chip Picks. I probably wouldn't have noticed the "sticky factor" if someone hadn't have mentioned it but now I like it a lot.

I was definitely dubious about spending $35 on a pick. Since it came I've been comparing it to every other pick I own (mostly on the mandolin) and the truth is it sounds better and plays smoother than any of them. I really wish one of my $2.00 picks had shown me what a fool I was for spending that kind of money but, alas, it was worth it! The difference is less striking to me on guitar, but still pretty clear.

I already own two Blue Chip Picks. I purchased this one for my daughter who is starting to play guitar. Since it is a different shape than mine, I had to try it out ( of course ) before I gave it to her for her birthday. It was amazing, just like my other two. Best pick ever created, thank you.

I've used every pick out there, have several tortoise and buffalo horn, etc. This pick out performs them all. No chipping or wear of any kind, less clicking and other pick noise, and doesn't slip out of your hand. I'm a believer!

this pick is a must have for all Mandolin players looking to better their playing and tone. My mandolin plays better, and the sound quality, along with tone of my playing has been bettered by this product. A big thanks to you guys for inventing such a fabulous product

More 'click' than genuine tortoise shell. For a while i was convinced i could hear it 'squeeking' particularly on plain steel strings. Larger and 'pointier' than a 'conventional' mandolin pick. All that being said, I have been using it and am beginning to warm up to it.
