The CT55 is a pick custom designed by Chris Thile for his personal use. It is very similar in size and shape to our TAD line of picks. However it is only manufactured in 55/1000 of an inch(1.4mm) thickness and has a custom bevel per his specifications. This is the exact pick that Chris Thile is currently using. See his thoughts on this pick on our users page.
Quarters, Nickels and Dimes, if included in the pictures, are for size reference only. They are not etched on the picks or included with the sale. To use this reference, please place a coin on your current non-Bluechip pick and then compare to the pictures of our picks with coins on top of them. This will help you choose the pick that is closest to your current favorite size and shape.

Having played the guitar for 45 years now I have tried almost every pick on the market. I ordered the CT 55 after hearing wonderful testimonials about this pick. I knew that a good pick makes a huge difference in sound and play ability but never found the perfect pick until I tried the BlueChip CT 55. Ordering was easy and the delivery time was surprisingly fast. Once I picked up my guitar and played a tune with this pick, I just couldn't put it down I played for at least 4 hours just because this pick felt so smooth, and sounded so amazing ! I started telling all of my friends about this pick and even purchased several as gifts. Some may be hesitate because of the price but when you think about it, you may have purchased an expensive instrument or expensive equipment to help you sound good, The pick is the very first contact for your sound once it hits the string. It only makes sense to spend just a little more for a pick that will make all of the difference in your tone and play ability. These BlueChip Picks are A MUST for all musicians! Simply The Best Pick Ever Made! Cheers, Greg Morton

I previously used a TAD1R 50 on my mandolin for a couple years. I rarely used the round edge. I could get good tremolos out of the sharp edges. I now have been using the CT55 for a month. I like it better. The sound is clear and like my other... It flys! I do think I lost a little on the tremolos, but have gained it back by adjusting my pick angle. It would be cool if they offered 2 sided CT55 and one sided TAD50(not the round but sharp TAD) Also, it has good grip, but could be better. Once and a while I'm playing in Hot places and hands get a bit sweaty.
For two years now... I just don't feel right without my Bluechip!

I have struggled for 25 years with which pick works best for me and that struggle/search is over. I would never have considered spending that amount of money on a pick myself so I thankfully have a wife that pays attention and she got me a gift certificate. I took 3 hours to review which pick would be the one and am completely satisfied with my custom printed CT55. The only problem is now I need a back up...
Thank you!

This pick is just phenomenal. I've tried everything but the CT-55 is the pick for me (I've tried lots of other Blue Chips, too). I loved it some much I blogged about it. The search is over for the perfect pick!

If i could give this pick four an three quarter stars I would. There is nothing this pick doesn't do well. It feels great, grips well, No major complains at all. Is just a touch brighter then some other premium picks out there, so for those of you hold the dark rich tone as the absolute most important aspect of a pick, you might be dissapointed. Best pick Ive ever used (and I've tried a ton).

I've tried many of the top tier picks on the market and I continually come back to BlueChip as my favorite. I use a TAD-50 on my Collings D1A guitar and a CT-55 on my Collings MT mandolin. The CT-55 produces and nice round, fat, woody, loud tone.

I love these picks.
I would have bought a bunch and given them to my picker pals for Christmas if the price were a little more reasonable.

I am a mandolin player and this is just the right size and shape pick for me. It definitely raised my level of playing with the bevel that I have always used emory cloth to create. a\Also just the right weight. Job well done. Can't believe I paid what I paid for a pick.

Context: I am a guitarist of 45 years or so and mostly use fingers/nails, sometimes flat picks, sometimes fingerpicks.
I am starting to play the mandolin more seriously. Yes, I bought this pick because I was sure I could play like Thile on the first stroke.
It is a remarkably comfortable and attractive kinesthetic experience to use this pick, and while I can't really make sense of the price, the pleasure and sound is 'worth' the cost.

In the 53 years I have been playing guitar, I would have never thought a pick would be in this area regarding costs. I bit the bullet and have to say that it is the best decision I have made to use one. In fact, picks were a dime a dozen so to speak. This one adds a WHOLE new opportunity to my playing, comfort and abilities. Works so well I ordered the thumb pick as well...EXCELLET product and service
