The CT55 is a pick custom designed by Chris Thile for his personal use. It is very similar in size and shape to our TAD line of picks. However it is only manufactured in 55/1000 of an inch(1.4mm) thickness and has a custom bevel per his specifications. This is the exact pick that Chris Thile is currently using. See his thoughts on this pick on our users page.
Quarters, Nickels and Dimes, if included in the pictures, are for size reference only. They are not etched on the picks or included with the sale. To use this reference, please place a coin on your current non-Bluechip pick and then compare to the pictures of our picks with coins on top of them. This will help you choose the pick that is closest to your current favorite size and shape.

This pick is totally worth the money for Mandolin. It gives good tone to my mandolin. It is more accurate, agile and faster. I love it.

For the longest time, I’ve heard about these Blue Chip picks being used by my fave bluegrass mandolin musicians (Chris Thile, Shawn Swain of the Kitchen Dwellers). The curiosity outweighed the high price point because I finally pulled the trigger and it does increase tone, smoothness of string picking transition and has a good feel/grip in the hand. Always had my doubts about the cost versus how good it could be against cheap (much cheaper) picks but I have to say I don’t regret my purchase considering how much I play. I’ve heard it said once that it’s not the quality of instrument (or pick in this case) that will make you a better sounding musician but it doesn’t hurt either ;)

Completely upgraded my mandolin’s sound, it seems to round out some of the harsher high frequencies. It’s got just the right amount of grip and doesn’t spin in my hand whatsoever, no matter how hard I strum, and the speed bevel helps me pick faster than any other pick I’ve ever used

I might not be able to own a mint-condition, 1939 Martin D-18 with an Adirondack top, but I can own the best pick in the world: Blue Chip. Simply the best-sounding, comfortable and consistent pick I’ve ever used.

I was surprised how much the sound and feel of my mandolin playing changed when I got this pick. Plan on using it as long as I can.

I just began playing the mandolin and this pick has worked great for me. It is well made, durable and really easy to strum with. It pulls a strong sound out of my mandolin when I use it.
