The CT55 is a pick custom designed by Chris Thile for his personal use. It is very similar in size and shape to our TAD line of picks. However it is only manufactured in 55/1000 of an inch(1.4mm) thickness and has a custom bevel per his specifications. This is the exact pick that Chris Thile is currently using. See his thoughts on this pick on our users page.
Quarters, Nickels and Dimes, if included in the pictures, are for size reference only. They are not etched on the picks or included with the sale. To use this reference, please place a coin on your current non-Bluechip pick and then compare to the pictures of our picks with coins on top of them. This will help you choose the pick that is closest to your current favorite size and shape.

I am using this on my A model Mandolin. It lived up to the other glowing reviews. It seems to have have more clarity and power to drive the strings. Fairy bright sounding but easy to control dynamic range. I had been trying most of the popular picks and this one is my favorite. I had a hard time pulling the trigger on a $35 dollar pick, but glad I did!

I have been a BlueChip pick user for a while now and will continue. Good company.

As a mandolin player, I love this pick. Have not been able to find the same tone or dexterity with any other product out there!

I really like all of the BC picks I have tried, but this one is my favorite so far. Gives me both the tone and control I am looking for.

I’ve played guitar in a bluegrass band for 17 years, and have used a TD50 for the last 10 years. I started playing mandolin about a year ago, and eventually decided to try the CT55. I found that it is not only a great mandolin pick, but also a great guitar pick. Love the tone and response on the strings. If you’re a serious player, it is worth the money.

They custom made this pick for me CT 55 1R
The best pick I've ever used with guitar or mandolin. Thanks

This has been my first choice for mandolin since 2012. It gives me the perfect combination of glide, articulation, and tone in all registers. Thicker picks may glide better and give you more low end but they can also give you more click and don't allow the high notes to speak properly. Thinner picks can give you more articulation in the higher registers but often at the expense of warmth and bass. The CT55 strikes a perfect balance. I have also used it on guitar when I want a very round sound for single-line stuff but I tend to prefer slightly thinner picks for guitar.

effortless speed through the strings, yet holds on to your fingers which avoids changing position while playing, perfect.
