Inspired by Andy Wood, the IBJ55 pick is larger than a regular Jazz pick, and smaller than a Jazz LG. It has a universal rounded bevel and comes with 6 pre-drilled holes in the center. This pick is 55/1000 of an inch(1.4mm) thickness. All of our picks are professionally machined, hand beveled, and laser etched.
Quarters, Nickels and Dimes, if included in the pictures, are for size reference only. They are not etched on the picks or included with the sale. To use this reference, please place a coin on your current non-Bluechip pick and then compare to the pictures of our picks with coins on top of them. This will help you choose the pick that is closest to your current favorite size and shape.

You would NOT believe how many picks I have gone through - I have been on a relentless pursuit of tone and feel for literally years! I took classical and fingerstyle lessons prior to enlisting in the US Army band field in the mid 90’s. I was basically introduced to the little red pick we all know at that time. I used those for quite a while, but one of the things about the “jazz” size picks with my large hands was the ergonomic influence on the knuckles of my left hand, first finger. My hand began to eventually have pain in the picking area. I then was forced to try larger picks, which was really strange to me after about 20 years of using the “jazz” style. I tried the larger jazz styles but they seemed too big, and traditional picks were way too big for the styles of music I preferred to play. Bummed, and on a whim, I though I’d try the IBJ55 as it fits somewhere in-between the jazz and a big jazz. It was the perfect size for me! Also, no more finger pain.
I love the way Bluechip picks feel against the strings. It’s like a warm knife cutting through soft butter - perfectly smooth! No tension. They also sound incredible on acoustic guitars as well (I know all the country and bluegrass people know this already).
I also have some of the jazz sized Bluechips now. After my finger pain left, I was able to mess around with that size some more, also being sold on Bluechip now, but I still tend to stay with the IBJ55 - it just feels like home.

Despite being a novice guitar player, I’ve had a thing about pics since I first started using them... I felt stupid, because here I am not even being able to play SH-T, and I’m blaming it on a pick? AS IF, right? And still, I kept navigating to reaching for smaller-sized, jazz picks, but when practicing longer than say a whole minute (BE KIND!) my pick would slip. In a Zoom meet-up of patrons of Andy Wood on Patreon, he showed us THIS pick that he uses, and I bought it on TRUST because, DUH, Andy Wood? The thing I ended up loving most about it, is that the holes also create *traction*, and that helps the pick not slip from my fingers. I thought it originally expensive for a pick, and invested in it more on faith and my life experience of “you get what you pay for”: definitely the case with this pick. I honestly play better, longer, because it’s not slipping as much. Thank you for crafting excellence.

I have been playing guitar for 60 years. I have tried 100s of picks, searching for the pick that had the grip and the tone I was searching for. Simply put, the IBJ55 is exactly what I was looking for in a pick. Like other reviewers here have said, the IBJ55 has great grip, it is effortless across the strings, and has great tone. I recommend Blue Chip picks to all my guitar students. I even let them try my picks, but only if they promise not to put them in their mouth. Seriously, my very long search for the perfect pick has ended. I love this pick!

I have experimented with guitar picks for the last 15 years or so. I won't go through the list of picks I have tried, but it was lengthy. I wanted one guitar pick that could do the following; (1) not sound like plastic but rather something closer to organic nail, (2) a pick I could comfortably use on electric and acoustic guitars, (3) one that kept its shape over time, and (4) one that would allow me to improve my picking accuracy as I play high speed chicken pickin' and improve my speed. I purchased these picks after watching Andy Wood play in a style that I aspire to work towards and my playing immediately improved and I am using this pick to propel me to a level that I wanted to get to - and it is happening at a very rapid pace. I bought a bunch of them!!!

Fantastic. My first Blue Chip pick. The material is just outstanding! I've been using the Dunlop Max Grip Jazz III's for years, and this guy has sort of a rubbery, grippy feel that is way more comfortable to hold on to. To give you an idea, this pick is the same size as the John Petrucci Jazz III, so it's slightly larger than a standard Jazz III. It has the warmth & thump of a Eric Johnson Jazz III, with some of the stiffness (but none of the chirp) of Ultex. Basically, it sounds and feels 10x better than any of them. None of the usual scrapey kind of pick noise you'd get from those cheaper plastics because of how it feels against the strings. Awesome for strumming, too! I could sense right away that using Blue Chip picks would make me play better. This particular model is a little bit large for me, so I'm going to try the Jazz60 next and maybe do a swap (maybe). Can't fault the IJB55 at all. Definitely worth checking out!

The IBJ55 is the same dimensions as my favorite pick (from another boutique guitar pick maker), but the material feels slicker and harder. It certainly feels great, offers great control, and I'm hoping that the material will hold its point much longer.

I purchased bluechip picks many times. Normally I love them and don’t use anything else. The two picks that i received this time are off for some reason. The edges are not smooth, even the material seems different (maybe I am being influenced by the “edges” issue).

So many little things with this little thing.
1) Want to change your playing? Try a different pick.
2) Want to play faster? The holes cut down on wind resistance.
3) "Tougher than leather"

I used jazz 3 picks for a while. They always felt to small when I would play fast high energy music, so I would switch to the large ones for that. I love that this pick's size is right in the middle. I also sweat a lot and get carried away sometimes when I play, so I like the holes. Of course the best part is how the pick feels and reacts to the strings, butter.

I've tried many kinds of picks. Many.
Blue Chip are the best.
I love the TD60, TD80, Jazz LG 60, Jazz LG 80.
This one : IBJ55 is amazing: great sound, and easy to pick with and so comfortable to hold.
Give it a shot.
