This is our JD Crowe style dobro/resonator thumb pick in a size medium. This is a slightly thicker blade design as compared to our banjo picks to withstand the more strenuous use on a dobro. It is constructed using a custom designed stainless steel band and a 60/1000 of an inch(1.50mm) thick BlueChip pick. These picks are laser etched, professionally machined, and hand beveled to create the best thumb pick available.
Size compares to a standard medium thumb pick of any brand.

I'm a lap steel player and I've tried a lot of plastic thumbpicks and they've all felt unstable and loose on my thumb - no matter how tight they feel when I put them on. This has given me the stability I've been searching for. The surprise has been the beautiful tone. Now if I can find fingerpicks that sound as good I'll be in heaven!

This pick gives a new dimension when picking Doc Watsons
'Ticklin' the strings'.
Very happy with my purchase.

I ordered my reso thumbpick the 29th of december 2009. I am now about to order my backup pick (24th of november 2017). It is not because of wear.. I am just so afraid I'll loose it! Needless to say more. Best there is!

Very pleased with my Dobro thumb pick. I have always used plastic, but had to heat & shape them to avoid the sound of the edge scraping the strings. Somehow (?) this is not needed with Blue Chip picks. They play smooth right out of the box. I use the medium size, which gives me a great fit without pinching, & good stability. I was concerned about fit, but when the Blue Chip guys told me I could return if it didn't suit, I went ahead with my purchase. Very pleased.

$40.00!!! Worth every penny. Very stable. No flex. Great tone. You can buy 8 regular thumb picks and find one that works. Or, you can buy a Blue Chip and be done.

...since I ifnally tried this pick, I see what all the fuss is about - it REALLY is better! smooth tone, no stirng scratch, nice snap when picked, very comfortable (I never did like those all-plastic picks, very uncomfortable, very tight to stay on but loose when you sweat).

Granted, $40 does seem like a lot for a Thumbpick! One of my reasons for not buying one was, think of all the plastic ones I can buy with that kind of money!! Take my advice, don't fool yourself! The best plastic Thumbpick is like a Yugo and a Bluechip is like a Mercedes! There is a BIG difference!! Mated with two Sammy Shelor finger picks, you're picking WILL change for the better. I go thru plastic ones constantly, but after a month of pretty steady picking, mine shows no wear, none, as in ZERO!! You're mileage may vary, but I don't think so! What's money compared to happiness!!! I chose a JD Reso because I play both reso and banjo!!

I was upset that plastic thumb picks become disposable far too quickly. Money lost. Investing in a pick that creates a superior sound, has a much longer life & gives me the confidence that it won't give out during my solo makes complete sense to me. Bravo, Blue Chip!

OK..., they cost more (a whole lot more)! But they feel great, sound great and they LAST! Simply the best picks on earth!
P.S. How about some color choices? Say for instance "Blue!" Just Joking!

When I saw the cost, I never thought there was a pick so expensive unless it was some whacky exotic material.
THIS pick however, is an absolute work of art... The fit and feel has allowed my playing skill to progress significantly faster not concentrating on the pick, its depth or falling off....Excellent ...absolutely excellent
