Product Description

The TP is our classic triangular pick in a 48/1000 of an inch thickness(1.22mm). The TP is the same size as the TPR, but has slightly sharper corners. All of our picks are professionally machined, hand beveled, and laser etched.

Quarters, Nickels and Dimes, if included in the pictures, are for size reference only. They are not etched on the picks or included with the sale. To use this reference, please place a coin on your current non-Bluechip pick and then compare to the pictures of our picks with coins on top of them. This will help you choose the pick that is closest to your current favorite size and shape.

  1. To good to be true 5 Star Review

Posted by on 4th Oct 2022

First, I did not get paid for this review and given the incredible quality, I am delighted to share my experience.
Second, I am studied classical guitar playing finger style etc so I truly know what a decent tone sounds like.
Third, I have played many picks over the years. Didn't even know that BC exists until I bought a guitar and the shop owner handed me over his pick as I didn't have one ... and it was a BC. Without know what I had I played an incredible instrument, but funnily it was not the guitar which caught my attention, it was the pick. I couldn't believe that a pick plays like that and creates a tone only finger can do.
Fourth, meanwhile I have a couple and each and every pick is outstanding.
Fifth and finally on price, should they been cheaper. I love to spend less, but I do understand the price. I don't see value in criticism related to a price when it is still affordable while providing me with an experience I simple never had before.

So net net, a truly beautiful pick it didn't know it exists. The closest to ones own fingernails (assuming style and polished like a classic player would do). No noise or scratch, just pure tone - in my honest opining, the best I have every played.

And yes, the Santa Cruz Tony Rice turned out to be a great guitar as well ;-)

  2. bright tone 5 Star Review

Posted by on 23rd Sep 2022

Took a little getting used smaller size, having used CT55 and TAD previously. Tone is more bright and snappy compared to thicker pick, which is a nice change from CT55 and TAD50.

  3. Pay real money for a pick? 5 Star Review

Posted by on 8th Sep 2022

I have strummed my guitar for over 60 years using everything from a plastic bread wrapper closure to my favorite fender pick but after attending a flatpicking clinic and talking to others I decided to give Bluechip a try. No disappointments, in fact I could not believe the change in tone, clarity and just plain fun. I admit that I had no idea what a change a good pick could make.

  4. WORTH EVERY PENNY 5 Star Review

Posted by on 1st Sep 2022

I have a 1953 Martin D-28 and have been trying to get the best sound possible. Cheaper medium picks sounded decent but just wouldn't bring out the volume. Most thicker picks produced more volume but a more dull sound. With this TP48 I can really dig in and get a rich, fantastic tone with all the volume I could hope for. I love the shape and feel of it. I couldn't be happier.

  5. Bright tone. Doesn't slip. 5 Star Review

Posted by on 31st Aug 2022

I purchased this because Billy Strings and Bryan Sutton both use it... I really like this pick.

I was using a Dunlop Primetone Triangle Grip 1.5MM before I got my TP48. The TP48 is a 1.22MM and is not as wide as the Primetone. The surface on the TP48 is smooth, but it does not slide in my fingers or move around while strumming, stays put. The tone is noticeably different from the Primetone. I would say that the TP48 is brighter. My girlfriend says that the TP48 has a "twangier" sound to it.

  6. best of the bunch 5 Star Review

Posted by on 24th Aug 2022

Blue Chip picks are great. I've never worn out one thee picks. The feel is great--solid, but not bulky. Picking is smooth, with no drag. I tried the TAD40 and 50, but have settled on the slightly smaller TP48, which works well for flat picking and strumming. I started with Fender medium picks and Wegenpicks, but the Blue Chips, and especially the TP48, are a step above. I could not agree LESS with the review that says that Blue Chip is all about marketing!

  7. switching over 5 Star Review

Posted by on 21st Jul 2022

I think this is the answer for me so I am migrating from about 50 years of teardrop picks, though I've long used a similar style Plec for mandolin. For guitar, even all these years in the smaller pick rotated in my finger no matter how much I tried to adjust the attack. Plus, the grip better than everything I had tried, most of the usual suspects.

  8. Believe the hype 5 Star Review

Posted by on 16th Jul 2022

You're gonna feel like an idiot for spending all this money on a pick, and once you get it, you're gonna feel like an idiot for not spending the money sooner.

It's great. The material feels perfect in my hands and the tone is honestly incredible. It's genuinely hard to describe to people how much of a difference it makes.

  9. Great 5 Star Review

Posted by on 14th Jul 2022

I love this pick. The size and shape fits securely in my fingers and it doesn’t rotate or move around during use. Sound is clean and bright. Although there are much cheaper pics available with similar sound qualities, they move around in my fingers during use, even though they are textured. Yours in not textured, but stays put. Thank you

  10. top pick 5 Star Review

Posted by on 4th Jul 2022

Trying to choose the best pick?
    Pick BlueChip.
You may regret its price, but you will regret its loss even more!
    Thank God they sell replacements!!
I recently purchased a new one and BlueChip company sent along an unbidden, free pick case/key chain.
    Awesome company!!!
