Product Description

The SR is an extremely rounded triangle shaped pick in a 50/1000th of an inch(1.25mm) thickness. The bottom corner radius is greater than the top two corners.  Our picks are all precision machined and hand beveled for the highest quality.

Quarters, Nickels and Dimes, if included in the pictures, are for size reference only. They are not etched on the picks or included with the sale. To use this reference, please place a coin on your current non-Bluechip pick and then compare to the pictures of our picks with coins on top of them. This will help you choose the pick that is closest to your current favorite size and shape.

No slipping in the fingers and exceptional tone! I will be getting more Bluechips in the future.

  2. New player, I love this pick 5 Star Review

Posted by on 16th Mar 2021

I’ve been playing for about a year or so now; I work on the railroad and travel quite a bit, decided to take up the guitar to kill time away from the family.

Saw some reviews of Blue Chip picks and it had me intrigued. Even as Novice I can tell the difference, I let my teacher use it last lesson and he was amazed at the feel and tone difference. So I would say the pick is worth the money.

    I have a Yamaha Trans-acoustic and 2 cheap alverez’s I travel with.

I am currently writing this regretting leaving my good pick at home for fear of loosing it. I’m going to have to buy another for the road.

  3. I used to not care about picks 5 Star Review

Posted by on 12th Mar 2021

I had been hesitant to pay any amount of money for picks, but after putting the SR50 up against my entire 'bowl-o-picks' of all different materials I am convinced this is the best pick on the market.

Great quality pick! Smooth on the strings and has a good gripping power to stay with you. This is my second pick with a different thickness and rounded style. I'm a huge fan.

been using tortoise shell for years until i bought a vintage Martin. Blue Chip suits my 1947 D28 much better.

  6. Bluechip quality issues 4 Star Review

Posted by on 19th Oct 2020

When I first heard about Bluechip picks I was stunned by the price compared to other available higher end picks ( Wegen) . I bit the bullet and purchased the Tad 50 and SR40. The quality was perfect and playability second to none. Recently I purchased the SR50 and found noticeable differences. #1- the color is now ( at least the one sent to me) was much darker then any I’ve owned or seen. #2- there are visible swirls ( I assume manufacturing marks) on both sides of the pick not present on any past picks I’ve purchased. The playability is still outstanding ( I just don’t want to go through the trouble of packing , postage etc) but the appearance is not polished as in the past. With this high price point I would of expected the same high quality control. Disappointed for sure and as time goes by there will be competitive manufacturers of similar design at lower price points emerging. Do not lower the quality for quantity or the competition will push you out of the future market.

I have several TPR 50’s tried this SR 50 ... just right on the mandolin. Great!

  8. My go to pick for mando 5 Star Review

Posted by on 24th May 2019

These are expensive so I'll not keep a large stock of them, but it is clearly the best sounding pick for my Northfield Big Mon mandolin. I have large hands so I might have tried a larger pick had I had them available to physically try. I do have a Blue Chip CT55 which for me is too big.

  9. Good pick to own for mando 4 Star Review

Posted by on 8th Dec 2018

My Northfield Big Mon responds well to a variety of pick types. For those who like a more medium sized pick with a rounded Dawg type tip this one has the typically excellent Blue Chip sound and responsiveness. I have 3 or 4 other makes and types I keep with me to use where different sounds are beneficial. But this has become my default.

  10. the perfect marriage 5 Star Review

Posted by on 5th Nov 2018

this pick is perfect for pushing through mandolin strings with great tone. it seems just the right thickness and surface area. with that said, my favorite bluechip pick is usually the one I'm using at that particular time.
