Product Overview

This version of the TPR was custom created for Doyle Lawson. We worked with him to create pick to his exact needs. This is the exact pick that Doyle Lawson is currently using. This TPR is our classic TP pick with corners that are slightly round in a 45/1000th of an inch(1.12mm) thickness.  Our picks are all precision machined and hand beveled for the highest quality.

Quarters, Nickels and Dimes, if included in the pictures, are for size reference only. They are not etched on the picks or included with the sale. To use this reference, please place a coin on your current non-Bluechip pick and then compare to the pictures of our picks with coins on top of them. This will help you choose the pick that is closest to your current favorite size and shape.

    Great Choice for Bluegrass

Posted by Bryce Koslan on 22nd Dec 2014

I've tried a number of Blue Chip picks, different shapes, different thickness and I've found in the TPR45 the pick that works best for me. Great feel, just the right amount of flex, and I love those slightly rounded corners. No more searching for me, it's the TPR45.

    Perfect feel

Posted by Bryce Koslan on 21st Dec 2014

The TPR 45 has the perfect combination of thickness, flexibility, and rounded edges I like for playing bluegrass. I have several Blue Chip picks of various shapes and thicknesses ranging from 35 to 60. I've tried enough to have settled on the TPR 45. No more trials for me, I've found my keeper.

    Busy gigger

Posted by Lucas Watkins on 21st Jul 2014

I play Gospel and bluegrass and this pick gives that perfect smooth and crisp brush across the strings. I have four Blue Chips total and this is my favorite for acoustic guitar. A benefit that I have experienced, but have not seen in other reviews is that the strings sound fresher when used with these picks, which is important for a busy gigger.

    Nice and Warm

I like it better than my tortoise shell. I'm not a Blue Grasser, but I love the warm even sound.

    Awesome Pick!

Posted by H. Hudson on 23rd Aug 2013

This pick has really improved my speed and I don't have to worry about dropping it as much either. The shape is just perfect, it fits snugly in the 1st joint of my index finger and WON'T move around. Fantastic job guys, you've designed another winner.

I play better, my students play better, the pick sticks and stays where it's supposed be,the sound is clean and clear-I tell you these picks are truly the best I have ever used. Both the guitar and mandolin sound better than they ever have.

I love this pick- Eliminated vibration to my thumb joint

Posted by Jim Owens- Rochester, MN on 28th Mar 2013

I purchased the TPR45 pick in the hopes of eliminating pick noise and improved tone. I would say there were some gains in these areas the unexpected and EXTREMELY welcomed benefit is the elimination of vibration transmitted to my thumb joint. I have been playing for many years with cheap picks and never noticed it until I purchased the BC pick. I have joint stiffness and sometimes discomfort. I'm confident the BC pick will help eliminate these symptoms. THANKS BC!

    The Perfect Thickness

Posted by Chuck Nation on 14th Feb 2013

For 4 years I have been using the same 40 for guitar, and a 50 for mandolin. Not quite thick enough, not quite thin enough. FINALLY, a 45! Just right for optimum tone. Get the speed bevel for sure. (I also have a BC thumbpick for banjo). These are the smoothest, fastest, longest-lasting picks ever. I've tried 'em all, and after 50 years of playing--I can say these are the best.

    Pick stays put

Posted by jweymiller on 27th Dec 2012

This pick doesn't turn in your grip. Stays put where you want it. Great sound, slides of the strings so nicely.
