  1. Amazing grip, amazing feel, amazing sound 5 Star Review

Posted by on 3rd Feb 2021

As a guitarist of ~20 years who has used hundreds and hundreds of picks (essentially every make, model, and shape imaginable), I can say without hesitation that BlueChip picks are the best picks I have ever used. The grip, while not sticky-feeling or tacky, is incredible. The feel is smooth, balanced, and dynamic. Most importantly, though, is the sound--or perhaps more accurately, lack thereof. BlueChip picks are incredibly quiet and nuanced. The pick-against-string click/buzz is minimal, which lets me focus more on what I am playing and less on technique and minimizing non-musical noise. Amazing picks. Pick one (or maybe even a few) up! You won't regret it.

  2. Love these picks! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 26th Jan 2021

I have tried Dunlop, Vpick, Golden Gate, and Wegen picks in various shapes and sizes and thicknesses, as well as Blue Chip picks in other sizes and thicknesses. Blue Chips are my favorite and this model is the best of the best, for my purposes. I am an intermediate mandolin player trying to get to advanced, and play bluegrass, Irish and old time tunes. Love the tone and the grip I get with these picks.

  3. Full, mid-forward sound 5 Star Review

Posted by on 16th Nov 2020

I've had a TPR50 for awhile now, and it sounds good on both acoustic guitar and mandolin. The TD50 gives a much more powerful sound, bringing out more of the midrange, but not in a harsh way; it's just full and punchy. It also sounds good on both guitar and mando. Now that I have both, I expect the TPR will get a bit more use on the mando, and the TD will get more use on the guitar. Glad to have the pair.

  4. Would buy again! 5 Star Review

Again I’m super impressed by the materials used to make this pick. It’s butter smooth and when played right chords and single notes sound incredible compared to any Dunlop I have used. Thanks blue chip!

  5. Best flat pick ever. 5 Star Review

Posted by on 13th Aug 2020

I've played guitar for 65 years. I have 100's of picks. This is my favorite. I keep one in my billfold, one in my guitar case and one were I practice.

  6. What I didn't know I was looking for. 4 Star Review

Posted by on 18th Jul 2020

I didn't give this product 5 stars because it's not "all I'll ever need". But for what it is I'd definitely give it a 5+ rating.

My only real criticism is that it's hard to find exactly what you need without using one. The sizing system didn't help, and I haven't found any guide to what number corresponds, even roughly, to the standard gauge system, meaning that you have to guess. Which can get expensive with these.

I picked one up at a music store in Arkansas sometime ago when I was passing through town, I think it was Janet Davis music at the time. I was looking for something to replace my very old real tortoise shell pick that I use for acoustic guitar (I eventually settled on Prime Tones on that score). I got a 60, which is what my TS felt like in my hand, but the sound wasn't close, so I put it in the "experimenting with different sounds" drawer.

Fast forward a couple of years, and I'd picked up a Takamine Jumbo because they're tanks and are missing a lot of the frequencies that play havoc with an acoustic guitar when you start getting into amplification and trying to make them sound "natural" on a stage. As expected, it didn't sound "natural", so I started looking for ways to make it more usable to my ear. Changing picks was a good start, and eventually the Blue Chip got it's turn.

It was a huge improvement. It took the "bite" off of the sound, if I have to say exactly what the change was. So, for kicks and grins I tried it on my other acoustics, and it tamed them too much, so I just happily went along with what it was, and ordered one with my name on it, because at this price you definitely want to be able to keep track of them.

I definitely liked the feel, and wished I could make it work elsewhere, so on a whim I ordered a 50, which works out to the rough equivalent of one of my Prime Tone 1.5 picks, which is pretty much my standard for acoustic guitars.
    Big Improvement!

But... It was still a little "muted" for lack of a better word compared to the attack of everything else I'd used.
However... The sound difference between pick and fingers almost disappeared when hybrid picking.

So, that coupled with the Blue Chip's just not seeming to have the "drag" of my other picks, and for some reason being easier to hang on to, I wound up making the investment in a few more, personalized of course, to go around to different instruments, and keep a spare.

When properly utilized, this is about the best pick on the market, to my mind.
But you have to understand that, like so much other gear we acquire in search of our perfect sound, this is an investment.
And for me, it's a worthwhile investment.

  7. The Best Pick ever 5 Star Review

Posted by on 14th Jul 2020

As my guitar playing advanced so did my experimenting with picks. I finally moved up to a Golden Gate pick which I thought at $15.00 would be the most expensive pick I'd ever play with until...one day a buddy dropped a Blue Chip pick on the floor accidentally which I found the next day and my life changed when I played with that pick. I now can only play with the TD50 as it makes the guitars sound better, comes off the strings easier and I rarely every drop the pick. Expensive but worth it!

  8. An absolute game changer 5 Star Review

Posted by on 26th May 2020

This is by far the best pick I have, or ever will use. Its comfortable holds up well and gives a beautiful tone that I have sought after so much. Honestly, how can you not love this thing? 40$ is nothing, I would have paid 100 awsome amazing pick.

  9. My favorite flatpick 5 Star Review

Posted by on 10th May 2020

The BlueChip TD50 has quickly become my favorite flatpick. I first looked into BlueChip on the recommendation of a bluegrass playing friend of mine. These picks are definitely worth the money. They deliver great tone, feel good between your fingers and last forever. Unless your cat decides to play hide and seek with it. I've used several BlueChip picks and the TD50 is the one I keep coming back to. I've used it on a jumbo Guild, a grand concert sized Taylor and everything in between. Strumming or single note playing, these picks work great on every guitar I own.

  10. a pick for all seasons 5 Star Review

Posted by on 20th Apr 2020

I love these picks. They feel comfortable in my hand. The surface makes it easy to hold—doesn’t slip. Normally I don’t like a heavy pick but this one just feels great. It enables me to be more expressive with my picking. And they don’t wear. And despite feeling textured, they are fast. There will never be another pick for me. I use 50s for electric and 40s for acoustics to give me a brighter tone.
