Product Description

This is the TAD pick in 60/1000 of an inch(1.5mm) thickness. It is shaped identically to the TP, but is slightly larger. All BlueChip Picks are professionally machined, laser engraved, and hand beveled.

Quarters, Nickels and Dimes, if included in the pictures, are for size reference only. They are not etched on the picks or included with the sale. To use this reference, please place a coin on your current non-Bluechip pick and then compare to the pictures of our picks with coins on top of them. This will help you choose the pick that is closest to your current favorite size and shape.

  1. My favorite as usual 5 Star Review

Posted by on 12th Dec 2018

These Blue Chip guys really stumbled on something in using this hi-tech plastic for picks. They are easy to handle, produce wonderful tone, and don't wear quickly. I love them. And each pick is consistent in thickness, too. I haven't found anything better. I own a half dozen in different configurations for all my instrument.

I thought I had thrown away $$ for a pick, but was immediately surprised- the bluechip has a really dynamic feeling, is easy to grip, has a nice tone. Takes some getting used to as it does seem to glide off the strings. (Collings MT mandolin)

  3. TAD60 vs PrimeTone 1.5 4 Star Review

Posted by on 14th May 2018

Comparing this to the flat (not embossed) triangle PrimeTone 1.5 (My only pick for the last several years):
    Basically identical size and thickness.
    BC is slightly more flexible.
PT slightly more rounded on the points.
BC really DOES stick to your fingers for no apparent reason.
With no modifications, BC gives a bit more high pluck, and the PT more Mid-Pop. Round a corner of the BC microscopically, re-bevel and MOST IMPORTANTLY re-polish (try toothpaste) and the difference mostly disappears.
Tremolo might be a bit easier with the BC.
The slight bit of give in the BC is probably what the Dr ordered for my geriatric wrist and elbow, so I'm likely to stick with it.
Not sure I'd buy another at the price, though.

  4. Best Ever 5 Star Review

Perfect large size and thickness. Been using Golden Gate mandolin picks for years, but they’re just too small to hang on to. These are big enough and thick enough and get grabby when wet and they are also very quiet. Perfect.

  5. amazing 5 Star Review

Posted by on 16th Apr 2018

I’m truly stunned at how much better this pick sounds on my acoustic guitars v’s every other pick. Truly, it’s a clearer, crisper sound. More highs, more mids, more defined lows. My Martin D18 sounds absolutely incredible with this pick. Very satisfied customer!

  6. Great pick, wrong size 4 Star Review

Posted by on 10th Apr 2018

Actually, it looks like I mad a mistake. I had many Blue Chip picks an quite frankly am spoiled. This time though, I ordered the TAD 60 thinking it was he same diameter outline as the Chris Thile 55. It's just a "TAD" bit smaller. I wish I could exchange it but I think you check that box that says you know exactly what you are getting etc. etc.

  7. After 40 years I found the perfect pick ! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 5th Apr 2018

I have been playing guitar for 40 years and have accumulated hundreds of guitar picks. I read an article on Kenny Smith and decided to spend what I thought was an exorbitant amount on a Blue Chip pick. It was Christmas time and I thought I would treat myself. When I received the pick I could not believe how effective it was. It raised my playing level tenfold. I would recommend Blue Chip picks to anyone.
Anyone want my hundred old picks ?

  8. BlueChip is the only pick to use 5 Star Review

Posted by on 9th Mar 2018

I have many BC picks and the TAD60 is yet another great one. Use it it on an F5 mandolin. BlueChip also re-beveled a damaged CT55 for me and it came back like new.

  9. Fabulous Pick 4 Star Review

Posted by on 23rd Jan 2018

TAD - 60 is great. I like the TAD - 50 better for mandolin. The 60 has its own vibe - great for guitar. Truth be told, I'm always switching among Tad-40, 50, and 60. All sound great and a little different - depends on the song.

  10. Best Pick for Mandolin 5 Star Review

Posted by on 4th Jan 2018

I have played Bluechip picks for over four years now and won't go back to anything else. In fact, just to ensure that I was "set for life" because I expect these picks will last a lifetime, I've accumulated 12 TAD-60 and rotate through each one per month, flipping sides on each day of practice. You will not be disappointed. I keep them all in Blue Chip's deep box.
