Product Description

This is the TAD pick in 40/1000 of an inch(1.0mm) thickness. It is shaped identically to the TP, but is slightly larger. All BlueChip Picks are professionally machined, laser engraved, and hand beveled.

Quarters, Nickels and Dimes, if included in the pictures, are for size reference only. They are not etched on the picks or included with the sale. To use this reference, please place a coin on your current non-Bluechip pick and then compare to the pictures of our picks with coins on top of them. This will help you choose the pick that is closest to your current favorite size and shape.

  1. perfect for my style 5 Star Review

Posted by on 28th Dec 2016

Having used a CT55 for about 2 years now I felt I wanted something a bit lighter with some small give. The TAD 40 suited me perfectly. It probably lacks a little of the volume of the CT55 but easily has the same tone and feel. Having tried 3 other popular branded plecks I'd safely say I'll never use another pick on my mandolin.

Love this pick. Has just the right "click" off the strings. Easy to hold on to, but slides over the strings like butter. Brings out the tone of my HD28.

  5. Best pick I have ever used. 5 Star Review

Posted by on 12th Aug 2016

I have been on a mission for about 8 months. I felt like my pick was holding me back and I knew I needed something that better accommodated my playing style and my guitar. As a flat picker who plays a lot of fast bluegrass tunes, my pick has a huge impact on my playing and tone. After spending month buying a wide variety of less expensive picks, in varying sizes, shapes, thicknesses and types, I felt as though there was not a pick out there for me. Then through another guitar player, I learned about Blue Chip picks. I was initially very hesitant to spend $40 on a single pick, but after not finding anything I liked elsewhere, I decided to give it a try. After playing on a Blue Chip now for a few weeks, both in practice and at gigs, all I can say is wow. Blue Chip picks are truly the best picks on the market and worth every penny. Super fast, great tone and fantastic grip. My TAD 40 has definitely taken my playing to a new level.

  6. TAD40 "Bluegrass Pick" par Excellence 5 Star Review

Posted by on 8th Aug 2016

I'm doing a lot of flatpicking and this pick suits me just fine, not too thick, and just enough flexibility.

I highly recommend this pick to anyone looking for a nice bright pick that lasts!

  8. Great Picks 5 Star Review

Posted by on 22nd Jun 2016

The short version is that this is my fourth BC pick and they are all great. Each has its place, but this TAD 40 (sized at 35) fits my hand an resonates with my instrument and style. I have been a bare finger player for years and these picks, this TAD 35 in particular, has rejuvenated my flatpick chops again. Thanks for the fine product.

  9. Custom, friendly, fast 5 Star Review

Posted by on 6th Jun 2016

A friend gave me a TAD 45 and I liked it so much I decided I had to have 2 more so I went to the web to order. I found out there is no such thing, so I ordered the TAD 40 and in the notes explained that I wanted a TAD 45 and please email me before they ship to confirm my order. The next day I received an email instructing me that they were making the TAD 45s for my order and they would be shipped that same afternoon. The rest is happy history. BTW, my previous budget for picks was $.75.

  10. rythm guitar 5 Star Review

Posted by on 3rd Jun 2016

I'm really liking this pick it took some time to get used to it. I play mostly rhythm guitar with church band some flat picking there is a noticeable difference in the tone of my guitar ruth this pick.
Hopefully I will not loose it my wife wanted to strangle me when she found out what I paid for it I guess you have to be a player to understand , that's why I don't understand the cost of her make up products I guess. If you are considering a Blue Chip pick I would say go for it you'll be surprised.
