Product Description

This is the TAD pick in 100/1000 of an inch(2.5mm) thickness. It is shaped identically to the TP, but is slightly larger. All BlueChip Picks are professionally machined, laser engraved, and hand beveled.

Quarters, Nickels and Dimes, if included in the pictures, are for size reference only. They are not etched on the picks or included with the sale. To use this reference, please place a coin on your current non-Bluechip pick and then compare to the pictures of our picks with coins on top of them. This will help you choose the pick that is closest to your current favorite size and shape.

  1. TAD100 (rounded edge) good for larger instruments 4 Star Review

Posted by on 25th Dec 2014

Bought the TAD100 because I like a "thicker" sound (less bright), but it's just too big for mandolin IMHO. Just for fun I tried it on guitar - perfect! And it works well on a mandola too, in whose strings it now lives. Of course it has the other attributes of Blue Chip picks that I like (I own several, esp. CT55). I play mostly Celtic.

  2. TAD100 review 5 Star Review

Posted by on 22nd Jul 2013

After purchasing and enjoying the CT55 & the STP60, I was excited to see Blue Chip's thicker offering in the TAD100. All three Blue Chips have the smoothest string release of ANY pick I've ever played. None of these have required any smoothing or sanding, a welcome relief from the days of sheepishly resurfacing tortoise, knowing each touch up was wearing away the limited resource many of us historically considered the pinnacle of tone.
I actually prefer Blue Chip to tortoise now. There's no compromise in tone, and the self-lubricating material of the Blue Chips feels slicker and more invisible to to my picking technique.
I've had folks say, How can you pay that much for a pick? My response is ALWAYS, How can you NOT?
Hats off to Matt Goins & the crew at Blue Chip!
    Like I said, I'm HOME...

  3. Phenomenal pick (right hand speed bevel) 5 Star Review

    First a couple of caveats:
I do not consider myself a truly great guitar player and I have been traditionally mostly a blues player (a very specific style). What brought to this pick is my recent delving into gypsy jazz and the recommendation of Steve L. a friend of mine and the previous reviewer of this pick. I have been mostly using either a Picks and Stones agate pick or a Wegan pick, as I try to develop my gyspy picking; both are great. What I find with the Blue Chip TD100 pick is the tone is at least as good as the stone pick, if not smoother. Also the firmness of the pick is perfect. The size of the pick also gives me more freedom and control with my thumb position and relaxation in my right hand. Since switching to rest stroke picking I find I naturally play with almost a straight thumb position over the top of the pick. With the TAD100 I have found this more comfortable and have also found when I experiment with moving back to a more traditional thumb position it is easier for me to maintain and stay relaxed. For the first day or so I was switching around between the TD100 and the stone and Wegan picks for comparison, within the first 24 hours this pick was and is now all I want to play with. 3 Cheers, keep up the great work!

  4. Just great. 5 Star Review

Posted by on 22nd Dec 2012

I play mostly Gypsy Jazz. I have tried hundreds of picks, including Wegen, Dugain, John Pearse...stone, bone, wood...you name it, I've tried it. I also have a friend who has a big three cornered tortoise-shell pick, which is absolutely amazing. Playing with that inspired me to spring for this BIG Blue Chip pick. $75 is the most I've ever paid for a pick, but I have to say, after A/B-ing the Blue Chip with the tortoise pick, it's hard - maybe impossible - to tell the difference. I love this pick. The sound is big, clear and balanced, and it feels great in my hand.

One thing...I thought the "factory" corners were a little too pointy - a little bright for my taste - but it only took a few minutes with some fine sandpaper to mellow out the sound.
