Product Overview

The Jazz pick is very similar in size and shape to the Dunlop Jazz 3. This is the Jazz in 40/1000 of an inch thickness.(1.0mm) All BlueChip Picks are professionally machined, hand beveled, and laser etched. This pick has a universal rounded bevel.

Quarters, Nickels and Dimes, if included in the pictures, are for size reference only. They are not etched on the picks or included with the sale. To use this reference, please place a coin on your current non-Bluechip pick and then compare to the pictures of our picks with coins on top of them. This will help you choose the pick that is closest to your current favorite size and shape.

    The Best of the Best

Posted by Rick Jones on 19th Sep 2016

The Jazz 40 is the best pick I have ever used and will buy more of them. I have always used Dunlap 204/205 but now only BC 40. The tone of my guitar is amazing using this pick.

    Dunlop Jazz iii Replacement

Posted by Jeremy T on 11th Sep 2016

If you have a Dunlop Jazz iii and are looking for the Blue Chip replacement then this is the thickness that is closest, measures a touch over 1mm in thickness but is a touch stiffer. Great tone as you would expect from a BC pick with a faster attack and a less muffled tone. The point lasts for ever and manages to glide faster over the strings while getting more volume.

    BC Jazz 40

Posted by Ross J. Sellers on 12th May 2016

I tried the 60 50 and now the 40, have to say I love the 40 the most. It's the closest to the Jazz III if you are looking for that kinda thing. I did really like the 50 for my archtop but it was a bit too big, for my taste, on an electric. Either way, you can't go wrong. Never thought an expensive pick would be worth it but I've gone through about 4 now (spend the extra few bucks and get one of those key pouches). The material projects very well and stays put in your hand. If you haven't tried it I would highly suggest it. The people that work here are incredibly nice as well, just give them a call if you have any questions. Love this product and company.

    BC Jazz 40

Posted by Tom on 29th Apr 2015

Been using the BC Jazz 50 for a few years, and wanted to grab another pick with a bit less heft. I also had a speed bevel added to this one. At the same time I tried a set of Martin Monel strings on my HD28. Between the pick and the new strings, there is a definite change in tonality......for the better.

    This is the one!

Posted by Forrest Halford on 20th Mar 2015

I tried the 60 and then the 50 and now the 40 Jazz pick and this is the one It matches the stiffness of the Eric Johnson Dunlop Jazz III pick that I like These Blue Chip picks are great training aids as well as performing picks They allow you to learn faster and once you have learned something with these picks you can transfer it over with a little more work, to other picks These Blue Chip picks allow better technique and smoother playing Thanks

    Feel, Volume, and Tone

Posted by Petie Ronstadt (Ronstadt Generations Y Los Tucsonenses) on 3rd Dec 2014

I was introduced to Blue Chip picks while on tour in North Wales by someone attending a show. I tried his Blue Chip TD40 pick and was amazed at the volume and tone that came out of my HD-28. I was excited to try a jazz cut Blue Chip and when I returned to the States went ahead and ordered one. I've been tremendously impressed by the feel and tone it produces and the added volume over my Green Jazz Cut Tortex picks that I've been using for years. Seeing that I wear the sharp tip off one of the Tortex picks in about a week, the value of the Blue Chip pick is more than evident. I'd even like to give the Jazz35 a shot. My one complaint is that I'm terrified of losing it, but I can live with that.

Instant 10-15 % Chops and tone improvement

Posted by Perry Stenbäck on 8th Apr 2014

I've had collegues telling me to get a Blue Chip pick for years, but I thought it couldn't be THAT good, but it was!!! The tone and playabillity is unmatched by any other pick I've tried( And believe me, I've tried most of them in my 35 years of playing guitar) I'll soon order some more, since I'm curious on trying out other gauges and shapes, and see, if it will give me even more cutting edge, since I play guitar for a living :-) To me, it's not about speed, but tone and timing, and this little "bugger" gives me just that! Sincerely, Perry Stenbäck, Grammy award winning guitarist in Denmark

    Great pick

Posted by CG on 9th Jan 2014

Expensive, but the best I have ever tried. Fast and a great tone - not as glassy/plasticky as some of the Dunlops. They also last. As long as you don't lose them, you can use them for a very long time.
