The CT55 is a pick custom designed by Chris Thile for his personal use. It is very similar in size and shape to our TAD line of picks. However it is only manufactured in 55/1000 of an inch(1.4mm) thickness and has a custom bevel per his specifications. This is the exact pick that Chris Thile is currently using. See his thoughts on this pick on our users page.
Quarters, Nickels and Dimes, if included in the pictures, are for size reference only. They are not etched on the picks or included with the sale. To use this reference, please place a coin on your current non-Bluechip pick and then compare to the pictures of our picks with coins on top of them. This will help you choose the pick that is closest to your current favorite size and shape.

The first time playing with this new pick I can feel improvement! It makes me a much more confident player and improves the sound my mandolin makes! Worth the price, thank you!

My Blue Chip CT55 is the best all around pick I have ever had.....I use it on my guitar and mandolin......It somehow sticks to my aging 78 year old fingers and doesn't slip.....I have tried almost all picks available and The BC pick is the best.

Keep coming back— cannot use anything else - these are the best, all other picks are junk. Just about cry when I lose one because I love them! Dog ate one - lost one working on the car - lost recent one snap keychain came open and it fell out somewhere in the yard in mulch. Have to keep a spare on hand ! But fast shipping and love the engraving my telephone #

I have tried almost every guitar, mandolin pick ever made and Blue Chip Picks are the best..They stick to your fingers and click on the strings better than any other....I have been using one for several years now and there is no sign of wear.....Great picks

Love the large triangular shape. Tucks into my hand perfectly to allow speed and accuracy. This pick definitely improved both my mandolin and guitar skills.

I’ve owned several bluechips through the years and I love them all. I recently purchased the CT55 and I love everything about it. It pulls great tone and if I had one short fall to complain about I only wish that I had contacted your office and asked if they could’ve drilled a few holes in the middle of the pick. It’s just a matter of personal preference and I in no way am complaining about the quality of these picks. I am really big about the feel of every aspect of my instrument including the pick. Other than getting a little bit slick from time to time I feel as if the CT55 is the perfect pick for me

Second Bluechip pick I've owned and it is of the same excellence as the first. Easy to hold, smooth over the strings, very quiet with no pick noise and easy to lose when dropped on a dark floor. Not cheap, but quality never is!

I am new to flatpicking. My guitar instructor is a proficient bluegrass player who has an amazing picking technique and rhythm but also sound. I ask what he does that makes him sound so fluid. He showed me what pick he was using and said it’s worth the price of admission. He was talking about his Bluechip CT 55. So I reluctantly purchased one and I have used it for a over a month now, everyday for 2 hours. I can wholeheartedly say that this is the best pick that I have ever used. Nothing comes close to the feel and speed of a Bluechip pick. It’s given me more confidence in my equipment which has translated into a more confident player. Thanks for making a really great product.

I received my CT55 pick about three weeks ago. It took a while to get used to because I had been using solely a Wegen bluegrass teardrop pick for the last year. At first, I found the triangular shape harder to play at fast tempos, but thought the tone was great. As I continued using the pick, I became more comfortable with it and now use it as my primary pick.
If you are already used to a large, triangular shaped pick, the CT55 will not let you down. Personally, I would prefer it to be slightly smaller, but overall really like the pick. I plan on trying one or two more Bluechips in the future to determine the one that best suits my playing. Definitely a great tone producer.
