Product Overview

This is our JD Crowe style dobro/resonator thumb pick in a size large. This is a slightly thicker blade design as compared to our banjo picks to withstand the more strenuous use on a dobro. It is constructed using a custom designed stainless steel band and a 60/1000 of an inch(1.50mm) thick BlueChip pick. These picks are laser etched, professionally machined, and hand beveled to create the best thumb pick available.

Size compares to a standard large thumb pick of any brand.

BlueChip is the best pick on the market.

Posted by Harless Maynard on 9th Feb 2022

I have used BlueChip picks for several years. They are the best I have ever used. The quality of all if your picks is outstanding. They never need to be buffed or prepped. The tone they create in all my instruments is unsurpassed.

I have bought five or six J. D. Crowe Thumb Pics for Banjo and For Dobro. Nothing can compare to the sound, definition and comfort of Blue Chip Pics. I Have Given Away Several Pics to My Banjo Picking Friends.Linzey Ham…Catawba Bluegrass Band…

    Excellent Sound

Posted by Joey on 5th Jan 2022

I am a fingerpicking banjo and guitar player, and had no need for a flat pick. Over the holidays discovered that Blue Chip makes thumb picks as well, so I ordered one. I got the reso because I liked the shape better. Wow! What a powerful and deep sound I get from this pick. It gives an excellent attack sound when needed, and also a lovely chime for classical banjo music. I grab it all the time now, my fear is that either I will lose it, or my kleptomaniac pick loving cat will steal it from me

    not for me

Posted by Michael on 25th Mar 2021

I love blue chip flat picks. But this one doesn’t work for me. I catch the metal part on the string and I kind of hurts to hit the string with force. At least on dobro and guitar I did not like it. I’m going to try banjo, maybe it works there. I know some people like it but not for me.

    Unbelievable Thumb Pick #BCT-RESO-JDL

Posted by Gary Cover on 18th Mar 2021

I am a Senior Beginner Reso Player taking online lessons through Peghead Nation. I have been using Dunlap 0.0225 finger picks with a fair amount of luck, but the National Large thumb picks I was using were a problem, uncomfortable & breaking at their bend etc. I Ordered this BCT-RESO-JDL Thumb Pick and it is amazing. My practice and playing has improved 90%. The new pick is feather light & comfortable and I do not feel it on after long periods of playing time. Thank You so much for your Contribution to the RESO playing experience... Gary C. Idaho

Best thumb pick I have ever used!

Posted by Bob War on 8th Mar 2021

I play the electric 5-string bass and have always used a thumb pick. My picking thumb was shattered by a ground ball a dozen years ago, and the titanium rod in my thumb took a while to get used to. I have tried many styles and brands of thumb picks, and I have always liked Blue Chip picks. However, the JD version is clearly the best I have ever used. It is quiet, responsive and comfortable for long sessions. In my opinion, nothing else comes close.
