This is our JD Crowe style dobro/resonator thumb pick in a size large. This is a slightly thicker blade design as compared to our banjo picks to withstand the more strenuous use on a dobro. It is constructed using a custom designed stainless steel band and a 60/1000 of an inch(1.50mm) thick BlueChip pick. These picks are laser etched, professionally machined, and hand beveled to create the best thumb pick available.
Size compares to a standard large thumb pick of any brand.

I sure love the sound and feel of the Blue Chip thumb picks, but they hook under the strings at the most inopportune times. I'm addicted to the tone, but this is a design flaw that could easily be remedied if they would just make the band longer.
For this reason, I have a love-hate relationship with my blue chip thumb picks.

Tone is nice, the blade is a nice thickness, and the metal band is really comfortable.

I use Large plastic thumbpicks in every brand. They fit snug. The large in this pick is not tight enough for me. Unfortunately, these are $40 a pop. I'm sure the Medium probably works well and the feel and tone would be great, but I'm hesitant to purchase another just to try it out and be into these for $80 experiment.

I'm 75 and after a lifetime of guitar picking, sidelined by left hand problems, I decided to give the Reso a go. I never used finger picks in all those years so that was a huge undertaking for me. I have tried 8 to 10 different thumb picks and had settled on a zookie L10. I kept studying and this JD BlueChip kept popping up so I ordered a large, thinking it was the size I needed and it came and was too big. So after talking with Matthew I decided to swap it for a Medium and it is as close to perfect as I have found. The exchange took less than a week turn around. Happy picker and back to practice. Thanks, Matthew!

A CT55 guitar pick was my first blue chip purchase. Absolutely loved it. Not being much of a guitar player, I sent off an email to blue chip asking for suggestions on selecting from the many options. They were quick to respond and help me out. I couldn't be happier. The tone....Wow. I let my friend use it and he purchased his own the next morning. It was so awesome that I had to get a thumb pick for my banjo.
I'm not at all a professional but I have been playing banjo for 15 years. I'm sorry to say, I was much less impressed with the thumb pick. It was very comfortable but I could't seem to play as fast or clean and perhaps, because of the angel of attack, I wasn't so happy with the tone and after two weeks and some tweaking I ended up shelving it.

As a professional banjo player of over fifty years experience, I've tried every gadget and gizmo that there is; capos, tuning machines, bridges and picks of all sorts. When the Blue Chip picks appeared, I was very skeptical; a $40.00 THUMBPICK? I took a chance and got one and I've been collecting and using them ever since. I've tried a few different sizes and shapes and I recently ordered and custom version that I thought would fit my thumb and give me the proper attack on the strings; a small size band mated to a Reso JD blade. This little beauty has rejuvenated my playing and my mates in "Andy's Ramble" (Andy Statman's band) say I've never sounded better. Blue Chip made me the pick I wanted and shipped it the day I ordered it. Great product, great service.

This thumb pic is more comfortable than all-plastic picks and I hope it outlasts them, sounds good on banjo.

I'm a old school kind of guy and I've used plastic all my life and thought I would never change. I've got to thank Matthew and BlueChip for making such a great product!

This is my go to for both banjo and dobro. Best picks out there. Great tone. Last forever.
